Hi everyone,
I'm new to this group and am happy to have discovered it
I've been a runner my whole life until I got pregnant and than had an emergency C-section at birth so for 18 months I stopped running and it shows in my endurance, cardio and health in general. I'm in the process of training for a half marathon! I need more friends like me! Friends who comment on my status, who motivate and encourage me! Please add me if you're a runner, like to comment, talk, rant, give advice on running, etc. Thanx!!!!!
P.S Anyone can give me advice on how to speed up my cardio level to what it was or just speed it up in general (please don't refer me somewhere else as I know how to "Google" things, I'd like to know from your own personal experiences)

Time, slow miles, more slow miles, more time, Cheez-its.
Welcome!0 -
Completely agree with Sonic. More slow miles. Good luck. I am training for a half at the end of this month and a full in May.0

Meaning I should run further distances but a lot slowler pace than I am right now?0 -
Morning,
I had 4 c sections, core is never the same since I'm training for my first half marathon in 10 days ( gulp) support here has been invaluable you will really enjoy it.

Hi Krisy,
I agree with Sonic and mjpTennis...
more slow miles is the best/safest/surest way to improve your speed.
You are just starting back after a long break - try not to rush it. Just enjoy the run!

Welcome to the group!! Yes, longer slow runs for now. Work on building a solid base - it's like a pyramid. The long slow runs and easy short runs in general should make up the foundation of your running. Build that base first before adding speedwork, tempo runs, etc.0 -
As for your pace for the longer runs, I would judge it based on your comfort level. You should be able to talk comfortable at the pace and not be out of breath. That is how I gauge my slow runs. This correlates, for me, to my 60-70% heart rate zone when I am using the heart rate monitor.0

Good point about the heart rate! I try to stay around 70% for long runs and easy runs and at that level I feel like I could run forever. I don't worry about pace at all on those runs. I should probably just remove pace from my Garmin's main screen so I stop looking at it. I already have the 2nd screen setup for lap time & pace for my track workouts.0 -
Glad you are able to get back to running! Lots of good advice already here, so I'll just say have fun and good luck with the training!0
