New to SL-pull-ups?

Hello everyone! I am new here and new to SL. I want to get started asap. I do have a problem though...I cannot do even one pull-up. And, my push-ups are on knees. Any alternatives I could do? I also have a bone spur on a cervical disk that has been giving me problems. I am assuming that if I follow proper form, the other lifts won't hurt it..? Unfortunately I just got a chiro, and I don't like him...he wants me to do NOTHING with upper body. I don't think he is best because every time I go in, he asks what injury I had and I didn't have an injury! I feel that becoming stronger and fitter will do nothing but help with health problems....thanks..

You may want to read through this thread.......... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/560459-stronglifts-5x5-summary
Pull-up and push-ups are not a part of Stronglifts 5x5.
My chiro thinks I use light weights with multiple reps. Not sure where he got that idea. Easier just not to correct him when he comments on how well I'm doing.0 -
okay, great! I think I had just googled the strong lift program and ran across the pull-ups and push-ups. I read that thread a few days ago, thank you for re-directing me!0

Yeah, push ups and pull ups are great accessory exercises, but not part of the core lifts for the program. Have you had the spur issue looked at by someone other than a chiro? A physiotherapist or orthopedic specialist would probably be able to give you a better idea as to its impact on lifting.0

No, this just came up recently, I thought I would try the chiro first, but I have considered going elsewhere... may check into it this week.0
