Hi everyone
I just found this group and am so glad I did, I've been doing this since 22/2 by myself and was considering becoming part of the 'stronglifts inner circle' Mehdi keeps on and on about but this is so much better. But I've had a read of a lot of the old posts and there's loads of inspiration and good advice so this seems like a good place to be
I was so nervous the first view times I went into the weight room, I'm fine with lifting there now but I really need to get some videos of me so I can get a form check, I did bodypump for a couple of years before this until I realised how bored I was but that's the closest I've got to lifting so I really want to be sure I'm doing things right. I did manage to take a few videos by propping my phone up on nearby benches, making a pile of plates etc but I don't think the angles are very good and there's just nowhere thats going to work for the OHP, which I think I really need help with as I've already failed 25kg 3 times, although I did improve each session. I'm thinking I might have to pluck up the courage to ask someone to record me but given that pretty much all of the time I'm in the weightroom I'm the only female I'm finding the idea of going up to a random guying and saying 'hey, can you film me' daunting. Has anyone else done this and what kind of reaction did you get, maybe I'm worrying about it for no reason.
Any input would be massively appreciated

hiya and welcome! people are always happy to spot/video I've found. the trick I use for vids is to put my phone in my shoe (I wear trainers there and change into my lifting shoes) and stand the shoe on something. pretty much guaranteed stable!0

That is a really good idea thankyou! I was thinking next time I might take my trainers off anyway and just have my socks on as I don't have proper liftingshoes yet and I'm think I'm going to need any extra edge I can get to successfully up my squat/deadlift again - so if they're coming off anyway I will certainly give that a go0 -
Yes I just use my phone...lean it up against somethign and reverse it so I can make sure it's acutally filming me...
I lift barefoot (at home) but if I am ever in a gym I would be in socks...hate lifting in shoes...0 -

Definitely don't lift in your trainers. You need a flat, solid shoe to support you and the weights. If the sole is too squishy, they will wobble. A lot of us wear regular old-school Chuck Taylors.0 -
I took off my trainers for squats yesterday and definately felt more stable, I'm so glad asking about getting someone to film me lead to this0

All these people with fancy video phones. I'll have to settle for bringing my grandma's digital camera and making sure I have spare batteries lol.
I like the shoe idea for its creativity =D0
