Long hot showers

I was running this morning... I think of various stuff while running. This morning was unusual. I thought about taking a long really hot shower. I thought about it like it was girl scout cookies, a really nice moist chocolate cake with whipped frosting or pizza. I wasn't interested in food, I just wanted to burn my skin off with water. It was so cold outside... AND I JUST WANTED TO BATHE! Anyone else ever have these long hot shower yearning while running? What do you normally think about?

Yes!! After a long run; the long hot shower is definitely a prize and feels so good! I think of all kinds of weird random junk. I run through work presentations in my head or wonder how jelly beans are made. But the shower....sometimes when its cold I'll run faster just so I can get to it!

Absolutely. When it's cold and rainy I think about the long hot shower or bath waiting, and a cup of hot coffee, but mostly I think about what I'm going to eat. I'm slightly food obsessed.

    Oh yes!!! Freaking winter!!

And I'm weird because I usually take a hot bath (while drinking a hot cup of coffee and eating some food).. Then I take a hot shower to remove the crusty sweat from my body!

    (Nice unrealted article!)

I think of my pop-up bowl of popcorn and can of soda - two things I would never consume before I run.

I think about work; family and friends; stuff I need to do; depending on the length of the run I think about pacing; and...FOOD and a long hot shower. I get that water so hot that my skin is lobster red afterward. LOVE IT!

I definitely have the urge on cold days, and during really long runs when I'm depleted and cooling off. But after tough runs I usually have an ice bath for about 20 minutes before turning on the WARM water. Then warm water feels hot...

Yes that happened to me while running my Half Marathon in the rain, it was cold. All I wanted to do was get home and take a nice hot shower.

EVERY time I finish a run these days, I thank whomever it was that invited the hot water heater and the shower head.

    Best.inventions. EVER

(Though I will say I was out for a 10 miler once that started off cold and about 45 minutes in, the weather switched and it was 92 when I finished. I dreamed of a glass of water. I was tempted to pick up some of the half full bottles from the side of hte road. That was the best tasting water I have ever had, and it was from my garden hose, hot, and had dirt in it.)

    So many times yes.

This past week-end it was that thought alone that kept me going - and to have a hot cup of strong coffee.

Nothing feels better than that steaming hot shower after long runs.
