What runs have you got coming up?

Leatherwood 50-mile race on Saturday. First-ever ultra, so my main goal is just to finish. But I really don't want to be out there for more than 12 hours, either!
Wow 50 miles!!!! That's insane!! Good luck!0 -
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh less than 3 weeks to the London Marathon! I'm starting to feel very nervous now it's so close!! This will be my first ever marathon and I'm so excited, but also feel sick at the thought of it! Lol
What races / runs have you got coming up? Will it be your first or are you aiming for a PB?
I'm hoping to complete mine in under 5 hours, I'd love to do it in 4.30 so that's my goal but I'd be happy to just make it under 5!
First, 5 hours for a first marathon is quite respectable. Or as John "the Penguin" Bingham suggests: "finish the same day that you start." I've run two marathons since November in the 5:10 to 5:12 range. Both of them were not at full throttle (I'd rate them both at about 65% of capacity). Tired at the end, yes. Wasted? No! In fact, I was ready to pick up again three days later after my last marathon. Nothing really exhausted after the race even though it rained most of the whole race.
Second, you are beginning to feel "taper sickness" or "taper fever." Trust me, it will get worse before it gets better. Just remember rule number one (two, three, four, and five): Never do anything different on race day that you hadn't found out that worked for you during training.
Third, if you've done your training with integrity, trust your training. You've trained for the right to run the race and you wilstart something that most people would never imagine themselves doing. Run smart, particularly in the beginning, and your training will carry you through.
I just completed a half-marathon a couple of weeks ago (2:13:47) that I ran at about 75-80% of maximum output as a warm-up race for my next marathon in 2-1/2 weeks (Rock and Roll Raleigh). My theoretical finish time is much less than 5:00:00, but i haven't decided just how much I'll push on this course. Flat, it is not. But I have lots of hills that I run as part of my routine runs without having to go out of my way to run hills.
I will be running the Tarheel 10-miler on April 26th.
After that, my next scheduled race is November 2 (City of Oaks, Raleigh). I am already working on my training routine for the summer.
Ah this post has given me a little boost :-) thanku! Definitely won't be trying anything new on race day, at the moment I'm playing around with what to wear etc and where I'm going to store my gels / phone etc.
Good luck with your races!!0 -

Hy-Vee road races at the Drake Relays. HM 4/27/14 - I think this one is going to hurt?
looks tough...the map is interesting...there are a few dips that look like they are little canyons or something.

I think the little dips are actually river crossings -- they aren't really canyons, it's just that you're on the bridge but the map gives you the elevation of the river below. See this post for more:

oh, that makes sense..thanks, Dave. There was also a rise that looked just about vertical, but I suspect that is a scaling deal or maybe even another bridge. Interesting link!0 -

Winnipeg Police Services 1/2 Marathon - May 4 - This is my second 1/2 and I would like to finish with a 2:10 time (7 minutes faster than my 1st).
Manitoba Marathon - June 15 - first ever full. Goal is to obviously finish, but if I can do it right around the 5:00 mark I'd be thrilled.
Mud Hero, 6KM +18 obstacles - July 26 - fun run, not worried about time.
I'd like to do the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Half again in October, but I will be out of town on business the entire week before the race and not sure it would be worth while.0 -
I'm doing my second 10K the last weekend in April. It is the Wounded Warrior 10 at Ft. Eustis Army Base.
Then I'm thinking (pretty sure) I'm going to do the Crawlin' Crab Half in Hampton on Oct 5th. I think I will have my son (he's 7 and his body is built for running) do the kids fun run on the 4th. He is excited!
ETA that the half will be my first one.0 -
I have a fun little 10K on May 3 in Corinth, Mississippi. A HM in Columbus, Mississippi in April and then the Big Butts 50K in July in Jackson, Mississippi. I'm also looking to do the Gulf Coast Marathon in Biloxi, Mississippi in November. That'll be a pretty race!0

Chick-Fil-A Half Marathon on April 5.
I've been looking for something in May in the Atlanta area, just haven't found anything yet that suits my fancy. Maybe a nice trail run...0 -

Good luck on the chickfila half. I'll be doing Athhalf in Athens in October.
There is the twisted ankle half in Summersville, GA in May, but I think that's over an hour from
