Hi, I guess i'm your #1 follower now. LOL. Your posts remind me of my thoughts in the journey. I thought I'd be back drinking coffee too and I remember craving some Easter candy while grocery shopping. But as luck would have it (still not sure if this is good luck or bad) coffee now tastes awful to me unless I heavily disguise it with syrups and milk. I've always taken it black and dark roast. And I don't like the taste of dark chocolate any more either. I had bought a small container of dark chocolate frozen yogurt for my birthday and ended up tossing it. So if you are craving coffee and candy now, your cravings may disappear after surgery :)

I had my surgery 2.5 years ago and found I could no longer drink my coffee black either. Still can't, but I do love my coffee so I build either creamer or a sugar free flavored creamer into my calories for the day. But really, with as much water as we need to drink each day, I'm drinking less coffee than I did presurgery. And in case you were wondering, according to my nutritionist, you can only count one cup of coffee as water. You will find that your tastes change after surgery and some things you may still like the taste of but your sleeved tummy just doesn't like, so you adjust. I still love spagetti sauce, but my tummy no longer does, so no more spagetti or marinara sauce for me! And it continues to change as you get further out from surgery. One of the receipes I got from my surgeon's office for the soft food stage was a noodleless lasagna (ground beef or turkey, cottage cheese, spagettie sauce and mozzerella cheese). I loved it and ate it a lot, true at that point maybe only a 1/4 cup at a time, but still the spagetti sauce didn't bother me at all. But at probably about 8 months out, my tummy said no more of that! So expect changes right away but expect more as time goes on. That's why we refer to this as a journey!
