Hi all,

am looking for some advice please?

I always do my long run at the weekends a couple of weeks ago I skipped it and did a 10 trail run up a mountain well 5 k very strenuous up and 5k fast down.

My question is this weekend do you think it would be ok to do both i.e. the mountain run sat morning and my long run ( 20k) on sunday? I know I should play it by ear and see how I feel, but I know I am going to feel rough enough after the moutain run ( I was in bits the last time) but was going to take the descent slower.

Its just in order to stay on plan I have to do a long run this weekend but at the same time there is a mountain half marathon coming up that I would love to do and I need to get some mountain runs in first...

The way I see it, the trail run will ensure you don't go too fast on your long run.

    I'd do it.

Doesn't mean it's smart or a good idea but I'd do it.

I wouldn't do it. I hate having to sit on my butt for two weeks after a running pain or injury.

On the other hand, there is no such thing as a training run that is too slow.

    Thanks all,

I did the mountain run on sat morning I wasn't anywhere near as sore as I was the first time I did it. Then yesterday did a short run and bike ride. So all good :) back at my desk now pretending to be industrious :)
