extreme fatigue

Has anyone got any ways to try and help with extreme fatigue? I'm in the first trimester still nearly 8weeks and fatigue has hit me like a ton of bricks. I rest when I can but I also have 2 young kids at home. Any ideas would be great. :drinker:

This is a tough one, since in my first trimester I slept for at least 14 hours a day. I have no kids, and my boyfriend made me quit my job when I got pregnant.
My best advice though, would be to eat healthy and drink lots. Try drinking things like Gatorade, Powerade and plenty of water. And of course, fruits and veggies, not junk food that will make you bog out.
Hope this helps, & congratulations0 -
There isn't much you can do to combat the first tri exhaustion besides getting plenty of sleep! I usually work until late at night, but during the first trimester, I'd try to go to bed by 9-10pm. It really helped b/c I needed 9-10 hours of sleep to be in a good mood the next day. I would also lay down when I put my youngest down for her nap. I'm 14 weeks now and seem to be past it.0

I was the same until about 14 weeks, and also have 2 young kids (2 and 4). My husband does shift work, which means I'm on my own with kids until 10pm one week in two. Until maternity leave a couple of weeks ago I was working part time as a teacher. So, after a day on my feet teaching teenagers, then sometimes a meeting, I had to rush back and collect my kids from after school club/nursery, make dinner, do baths etc. I used to just go to bed when they did! The kids would be in bed at 7:30. I'd be in bed at 8!
I did exercise too, 4 times a week, so I think maybe that helped.
I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and I get quite tired again, but not in the same way as the first trimester.0 -
I don't think there's a whole lot to be done about it. I'm 17 weeks and still feeling tired, but not nearly what it was.
I have one little one at home, and I've been getting her ready for bed, and then getting myself to bed early. DH takes care of the actual putting her to bed part. I'd try and get all of our things ready the night before. Get clothes together and ironed and pack lunches mostly.
Besides that I cut down on almost all non essential activities. We ate beans, eggs, roasted chicken, sandwiches and/or pasta for dinner nearly every night for about a month. Off of paper dishes, or we all ate from the same big platter. DH took over most of the laundry.0
