I know there are several people training for a 50 miler but I am not sure when. If you already have had your race, would you mind sharing? My first 50 is Saturday!

Hope this isn't too disconcerting. The moral of the story is, be ready for mud!0 -
Sure - here are links to race reports on the 3 50 milers I've run:

I just got through your first report from 2012 and love it that you have two more, after saying it would be your last. So cute, the kids playing before your race, and running with you!0 -

Dave, did you mean to link to a post mainly about weight gain? I want to read about the mud!
FWIW, ultra weight gain is why I'm here on MFP. My weight has steadily crept upwards since taking up ultrarunning.0 -
Great thread. I'm training for a 50-miler. I hope the OP will come back and share their race report.0

I'm not planning another 50-miler anytime soon, but I will be doing an ultra relay (about 40 total miles) at the end of April. Plus I'm doing the Pike's Peak Marathon in August -- not technically an ultra but given that it will take me at least 5 1/2 hours it might as well be one!Dave, did you mean to link to a post mainly about weight gain? haha! April fools! (Either that or I'm a fool). Here is the recap:

I've written reports about a few of the 50 milers I've done which can be found in the link below.

Lately I've tended to pick hard courses for some reason. Or they become much harder due to circumstances beyond my control. I'm doing another really hard one in two weeks. I am, frankly, terrified. It's going to be tough under the best of conditions. With my track record, I'll have 12 raging river crossings and a torrential downpour to contend with.0 -

Love your writing! I'm going to add you to my blog roll!0 -
Wow, Dave, your race sounds similar to the North Face 50 I did in 2012. It was miles and miles of chocolate pudding on a course with a lot of elevation change. The worst environmental conditions I'd ever faced until the sandstorm I had to contend with at Monument Valley last month. The mud and rain at NF was annoying and sucked but I actually had moments at MV where the conditions seemed so out of hand that it actually felt dangerous.0

Here is the 54-miler I did last year:

I suffered and swore I would never go back...but I am running it again in about two months.0 -

Wow, just read your report of the Monument Valley 50 mile. What an experience! Awesome photos. I have been there before as a tourist but it would be amazing to do a race there!0 -
You can read one of my marathon reports twice if you want to.0

That sounds so intense! I can't imagine that many people running an ultra.0 -

Great job!0 -
Thank you everyone for sharing, I am feeling very inspired.
I am up 10-12 lbs and I am not comfortable being at this weight. I thinking my ultra running will be short lived.0 -

FWIW, even the top female ultrarunners tend to have slightly higher BMIs than marathoners or track runners.0 -

Love this post! I have my first 50 this coming weekend and this has all made for great (if slightly daunting!) reading. Congrats to the OP on the finish! And what a fantastic time!!0

Congratulations on the finish! Amazing!
I'm going to have to stop reading these race reports or I'll want to run a 50 (and I've not even hit the marathon yet).0 -

CONGRATULATIONS!0 -
I always break up with MFP the day before and after a big race. Otherwise I do not fuel or recover properly. Back on the wagon, its operation lean out.0

Ah, I see; didn't realize it was temporary. I don't usually log food the day of and the day after. Sometimes I will log carbo-loading though, just to make sure I'm eating enough.0
