A mom - flying solo!

My kids are older, but the work doesn;t decrease it just shifts. I started MFP on monday and know it will be tough to do this when I am the only one in the house cutting back on the snacks etc. My husband is over weight (with diabetes) but has no interest in losing weight at this time :( Although, he does go hard biking once the snow is off the ground 45 X 2 commuting from work. It should warm up soon. My son (11) is under weight so I am constantly adding butter and calorie rich foods to his diet.. And my daughter (13) is just right and is not picky :) We have the whole spectrum in our house which keeps things interesting.

Im starting my weight loss journey. I really like red wine.....so this will be tough cutting back on the nightly glass (or two).

Anyone in the same situation - solo in the family? My goal is to lose 20 pounds.

Hi! My goal is also to lose about 20 pounds, and my husband is definitely not embarking on the diet with me (he works out with a trainer and tries to be healthy-ish, but he categorically refuses to give up certain pleasure foods or forgo his pint of ice cream if the mood strikes him). My son is only 15 months old, so...

But, yes, I am in this solo, chez moi.

I totally have had a nightly red wine habit that I figured was killing me calorie-wise, so I gave wine up for Lent. I also gave up chocolate and ice cream. This has actually been really helpful. I still plan to enjoy all those things, but hope to add them back in moderation and not make a daily/near-daily thing of them.

My next goal is to stop snacking after dinner. Tonight is night #2 with that, and so far I am finding it MUCH HARDER than giving up wine/ice cream/chocolate.

Feel free to add me as a friend. :-)

How's the lent thing going for you. I dont know if I can abstain for 40 days! I was think 1 glass Fri & Sat only. And I have to walk 30 extra minutes for it! :)

YES, everyone in my family is underweight except for my oldest daughter (9) who is perfect on her weight! Its so hard being able to watch them eat anything at anytime of the day.
  • I'm in it somewhat solo. My boyfriend is also working out/cutting back..but different than I. He is able to simply cut back and the good things and still lose weight...whereas I need to cut it out completely. Our daughters are still small (3 and 1) and they are doing great. I LOVE to work out. I've always been an athlete..loved the gym and dancing, things like that. however with working full time and having the 2 kids and a dog...I just don't have the time to get my work outs in like I used to. I will admit I miss my 1 1/2 long work outs at the gym..it was my me time. However now I use that time to reconnect with my kids once they get home from spending 9 hours at daycare. It will definitely be a struggle for me to get back on track. My goal is 30 lbs.

Solo here! My hubby is pretty fit and can eat and drink whatever he wants to. One of my biggest challenges is saying no when he suggests eating out/ordering food!
