  • I am doing 30 minute P90X Kempo DVD. but instead of airboxing I use a Wavemaster punching bag. So much more fun to actually hit something.

I am going to the gym at least 5 times a week. When i go I am doing 20-30 minutes of each. Eliptical, treadmill and bike. I am also using the stairs more and more at work. I have cut out my caffeine and strictly drink water. Watching what I am eating. Although i have been really bad at writing it all down lately.
  • Sorry late to the party... Been working on a lot cardio and strength training. Also been working on running again preparing for 2 5K runs this summer and fall. The Sausage Run/Walk at Miller Park at the end of July (This one is lots of fun plus part of the course in the stadium on the field) and the Biggest Loser 5K in Racine in Sept. About 10 years ago I used to run 10K and running has been a LOT harder to get into this time around.

Meal tracking is tough until you can get in the habit. This program has a really neat app that you can bar code scan in your food or add your items via the app vs writing them down. I used to struggle because I'd eat something and then try to calculate how much I ate. I found it easier to say look up the food item, say lettuce or almonds and see what the serving size was and they that's how much I ate. Doing that totally turned the corner for me and made food tracking sooo much easier. I also use the recipe section quite a bit. Once you start getting a bunch in there and the habit of doing it, meal prep in the evenings is easier too especially when you are trying to decide what to eat.

After a while I was starting to see what foods I ate and could see a pattern as to which foods worked better for me with weight loss and which ones hindered it. I have learned everyone's body chemistry is different so what works for one doesn't work for another.

I also started prepping my food choices more which has made packing my lunch everyday or grabbing snacks easier and a lot more healthy. If I buy a big bag of mini carrots I'll get the snack size ziplock back and weigh out 3 oz portions. My bottom drawer in my fridge is full of these little banks and I just can grab one and go. Also when we make chicken at home I'll usually make a portion for just Mark and I but then I'll also cook up about 5-6 more breasts. We eat our portion but then I cut up the rest and again measure into 3 oz portions in the little banks and freeze them. In the mornings I just grab one to throw in my lunch and by lunch time it's thawed and ready to eat (or you can warm it up if you prefer it that way). Depending on what my other food choices are for the day I'll eat it on it's own or throw in on a salad. If I buy cottage cheese I bought a weeks worth of little 4oz containers and measure out a weeks worth. I have also gotten away from the artifical sweeteners (essentially poison anyway) and a lot less processed foods. More meat, fruit, vegetable and whole grain choices. I will say that from time to time I will have a guilty pleasure but make sure to log that too. Accountability of what I eat has really helped my mindset about what I used to eat vs. what I currently do and what I really want to eat. Also the amount of exercise I do to counter act the not so good food choice.

We've also jumped on the Smoothie band wagon... Like having a super powerful healthy dessert for breakfast. We've been putting in ground flax and chia seeds for added protein and it usually lasts me most of the morning.
  • Just to clarify on the weight... I've been using My Fitness Pal since November and that's how much I've lost since then. I can't separate it out for the challenge...

Also about the pic... I found the pic and reminded me a a cute little saying "Ewe's not fat, Ewe's just fluffy!" I though a little humor in the journey couldn't hurt...
