Rest/Training Schedule

I'm about a 10 months into crossfit and I have had a lot of great results, but I have so many further to go. Right now, I try to train 3 days on one day off, but I'm out of town a lot on the weekends so I sometimes end up wod'ing Monday-Friday. How do you all schedule your rest/training? Has any one schedule worked better than another?

I usually WOD 3 times a week and do cardio twice a week. Maybe go in and lift on the weekends.
About every 3 months or so I take a week off. My body usually lets me know when.0 -
It really depends on the person and what works for me might not work for you. If you feel good about your current schedule and are seeing the results you want, then keep at it. However if you're finding that by the 4th and 5th sessions you're struggling to get through, then you might need to take Wednesday off and see if that helps.
Personally, I train 8-9 times during the week and take weekends off.
So a normal week for me is usually double training days (morning and afternoon/evening) on M, T, Th, F, and only a morning session on W. Monday morning is usually a strength session and Friday afternoon is oly lifting, but the others are all normal crossfit strength/WOD sessions.
I don't find that my training suffers later in the week but I know some people do if they do more than 3-4 days on in a row. Training makes me happy so I do it as much as I can (within reason..) but still make sure I have at least 1 full day, usually 2, of rest.0 -
I do the same as you - WOD Mon-Fri mornings and weekends off. Sometimes if I feel like it I will do some cardio in the gym at work in the afternoon as well but it depends on how tough the WOD was.
I usually have active rest days on the weekend though as I will often cycle places rather than take the car or I'll be doing a lot of walking. I rarely spend days doing nothing at all. If I'm at home I end up gardening.
This concerns me a bit actually - do you guys take active rest days or do your rest days literally mean doing not a lot?0 -

For me it depends on the week. I work at farmers markets most weekend days so at least half of my day is busy and on my feet, the rest of the time is a mixture of doing various errands, catching up with friends, spending time with my pets, etc...
Again I reckon it is different for everyone and if you're finding that your performance and recovery are going well despite your minimal complete rest time, then keep at it!0 -
I truly go based on how my body feels week to week. I usually WOD 5-6 times per week. Depending on what we are doing sometimes I need a break in the middle of the week. I'm currently doing some extra competitive training also. As far as rest days go, sometimes I go for a walk or do some yoga, or sometimes I just sit on my *kitten*! lol0

I CrossFit Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On Wednesdays I will sometimes do yoga and on Sundays I generally do NOTHING and love it.0

I usually do monday, tuesday, take either wed or thurs off, and friday. So 4x a week. I also try and slip in cardio at least once during the weekend, and sometimes once during the week.0

I might go for a walk or do mobility, but nothing intense.
A few weeks ago I did a couple of WODs and came as close to quitting and walking out as I ever have. That's when I knew it was time for a break. I took about five days off and did nothing and just let my body get strong again.0 -
I usually WOD 3-4x per week (MWF, sometimes Tuesdays) with an additional Oly session on Saturdays. I rest on Thursdays. Sunday I do only a 30-45 min run/walk. However, on top of this I also do 3-4x of lifting in the gym for 60 minutes, swimming, and 3 days of yoga. Sometimes I do additional running or swimming. I will start hiking soon. It doesn't really matter how much I work out in one day as long as I take a couple days off per week. I am in my 40s so I find my body doesn't recover quite as quickly as it did when I was in my 20s.
I do one full rest day (Thursdays) and one active rest day (Sundays: usually walking or light running).0
