Hi all I'm looking for some tapering advice. I am entered for a 100km (62.5 miles) event on the 12/13th of April. It is an off road, track and trail event with 10000+ ft of climb. You can run or walk or do both. There is a time limit of 26hrs I am aiming to walk most of it finishing in about 22hrs. In training I have been doing one long walk of 20miles + and two or three medium runs of 6/7 miles. Last Sunday I did 41 miles in 13 hours as my last walk. Today I did my usual 6.5 miles at 9 min miles. Question, Sunday do I do another run or just leave it now I am this close to the event.

WOW! That's awesome!
Not sure what you mean by usual run - I'd say a 6 mile run would be fine for sunday, but after that, start lazing around. Two miles? Three miles?0 -
well, first of all, good for you for tackling that distance! I am in awe of that!
secondly, good tapering involves reducing volume, while maintaining intensity. You'll have to figure out what that means for your current program, or maybe a person with experience with this distance will help.
Good luck!0 -
That is a loooong way to go!!! Good luck to you!!!0

Why I want to get in shape
12 years ago I was taking part in 100 miles non stop walking challenge events, Now I can't walk 100 yards.
you need to update your profile OP. sounds like you're doing alot more than walking 100 yards now. very inspiring. have a great race!0
