Windshield Height Preference

Hello all fellow riders. I am hoping you can help me. I just purchased and installed a Memphis Big Shot windshield on my Honda Shadow Phantom. However, when I sit on the bike, I am looking through the windshield and not over it. On my old bike, I looked over the windshield. So my question is, what is your preference for riding with a windshield? My windshield has a quick release so I can remove it for short trips and just touring around our area and then I can put it on for long rides. Would love to hear from everyone about your preference and experience. I am on the fence of replacing it with a Memphis Pop Top before I take her out of the garage and take her for first 2014 ride :) Thanks everyone. Safe riding!

I have had the Memphis shade of various bikes, looking over them is ideal rather then looking through them., its not suggested to look through them. I found a shield called the Windvest, pricey but worth it, if you get the chance check out there website, this guy minimize the windshield until no longer was it non functional coming up with a small but functional shield. It is installed on the handle bars and its sleek design make it hardly visible, it does its job with killer looks. Check it out.

The "correct" way I am told is to be looking over your windshield. I am "vertically challenged" so I never look over the windshield, I look through it. I even had just a "wind screen" on my intruder a few years back and it was still above my eyes. A couple of times I was glad for that - when something hit my windshield my entire face was protected. On the other hand, in rain etc... looking through the windshield can be difficult. I guess it comes down to personal preference.

Since I wear a full face helmet I prefer to look OVER the windshield.
I bought a 2" shorter windshield for my Gold Wing (2007 Navi with 98,900 miles) and my Vstrom ('07 DL1000 with 43,000 mi)
already had a short enough windshield!

Personally, I hate even coming close to looking through a windshield. It is true that the right height windshield is critical to wind buffetting on your head - amoung other factors. I have had bikes I cut the shield myself until I got it just right, and others I just tried demo units until I found one I could just purchase.
