Advice needed: Training with Injury/Illness

I was so excited when I realized that I'd made it through the first 6 weeks of marathon training without illness or injury!
And then I pulled/tore something in my calf on 3/30.
And then I got sick on 4/1.
So I'm playing the game of doctors wanting to wait and see how my calf does on its own before ordering an MRI, while I'm just getting to the coughing stage of a nasty cold. My doctor says I can do anything I want as long as I don't have a fever and my cough isn't in my chest, and it doesn't hurt my calf. I haven't run since Sunday and I'm going crazy.
I think I'm going to do 90-120 min on the elliptical machine tonight. Any other advice on workouts I can do that won't put too much impact on my calves, but that will help maintain my fitness level? I was at 15 miles and starting a build week just before the injury.

The elliptical is a great choice with a calf injury. Calves are funny injuries. The re-occur unless you let them heal completely.0

If you have access to one the Cybex Arc trainer might also help you maintain your fitness level while healing. I have found it to be easier on my ankles than the elliptical.... Wishing you a speedy recovery!0
