I HATE METFORMIN

I was prescribed Metformin a year ago. It irritates my stomach and I hate the side effects. I find myself not losing weight when I stop taking the Metformin. I must admit I don't often log my food; and honestly my food choices aren't the best.

I'm not sure if there was a question in there or not but metformin can make you have tummy issues.

Id recommend the ER or extended release version as that has WAY less reported tummy issues. I also took ginger pills and others have taken ginger tea the first few weeks of taking it to help it settle the tummy issues.

Plus, metformin reacts badly to higher levels of carbs. I don't know what your macro ratios are but if your carbs are too high, the metformin will let you know, usually in very unpleasant ways.

Hello, My name is Melissa, and I have been on Metformin for 5 years almost. Some of the reasons it is causing you issues is the way that you eat. If you eat TOO many Carbs in one day this will cause an issue with the your tummy hurting. Metformin is used for Diabetics (it was made for someone who is diabetic) and when diabetics eat carbs, high sugared foods this causes them issues, and the same with women with PCOS. Once I stopped eating that CRAP I stopped getting sick! I love cheat days but when I do I feel sick all the time! Also take the meds at night right before you go to bed, this will help with some of the pain!

Thanks for your advice. I usually keep ginger in the fridge so I will add some to my tea.
