19 miles done, a distance pr and a question

Hello all! Today I tackled 19 miles, unfortunately on a treadmill due to possible storms in the area, but I finished!! At around mile 17 or so my stomach really started to disagree with me. I had been taking in sport beans and water the entire run, and ate an unusual breakfast 5 hours earlier. My last 2 miles were over 1 min slower than the rest. I am thinking starting the run so late in the day 1pm, and not having a normal breakfast are probably the reasons I had such trouble! I have a cutback week and than one last really long run before the taper begins. I just hope this doesn't happen on the 20 miler!

Welcome to distance running, haha! I'm sorry, I'm sure everyone that posts here have BTDT with a sour stomach. All I can say is that you're mainly going to have to figure this one out on your own, and this is part of the skill that comes with running long distances. You can google and find lots of possible solutions, but it's going to be experience that tells you what works best for you.

But I got a question...... were you nauseous, or did you feel like you were going to poop your pants? The former can be a bit easier to deal with. I always pack some mints and ginger chews, and I know a lot of people that have gotten good mileage out of antacids.

I was nauseous, I have experience the pooping feelings before lol. But the nausea is something new! But I really think it had to do with an unusual breakfast and late start time for our run. I felt much better after I got real food in my stomach, compared to the sport beans I was using during the run.

I get neasua sometimes too. Usually after I finish. After one of my marathons I actually threw up. It was really odd. I never have an appetite after anything longer than 2.5 hours. Not sure how to help. Maybe go slower?
