The weekend went pretty well for me. I had a great time out at the shooting range with my neighbor on Saturday and then on Sunday just hung around the house did a little yard work and grilled out. I love this time of year, just being outside and grilling all the time. My eating has been good and I hope to see another loss this week.

It's been a great week so far! I started Carb Nite on Tuesday. I planned on a Wednesday start but by Tuesday evening I was under 30 g's of carbs so I went with that as my start date. Plan on still doing my first Carb Nite on Friday or Saturday.

I've dropped my workouts as well. This week I will do 2 HIITs, 2 strength days, 2 slow 5k's, and of course continuing to get at least 10k steps a day. I joined a new gym and I feel like a complete newbie there and somewhat lost in the weight room. I've been lifting off and on for over 15 years, but the general atmosphere is just strange to me. People hoard their stations and equipment, they are paired up and it kind of feels like high school, and it's just weird in general, plus it was really packed. I've done Crossfit for such a long time and have had all my workouts preplanned out for me. I loved that but it left me kind of clueless in regards to planning my own periodization. I did find a plan that I like on bodybuilding.com and I'll do one workout tonight and then officially start it next week. I think it's a 4 week program and I can live with that. A few months ago I bought the New Rules of Lifting for Women book and completed the stage 1 workouts (8 weeks), but wasn't impressed and grew a little bored. Have any of you tried any of the other NROL books? If so, what did you think? I didn't realize the NROLFW book was so outdated when I bought it.

Hope everyone is doing well this week!

I hate gyms! I walk outside for my exercise but have been thinking about lifting. However I would be more likely to just buy some free weights for at home. I'm not looking to do anything serious but I do need to build up some muscles in my arms. Sounds like you are doing great though Angela, keep up the good work!

Hello! Wow... this week has flown by for me. And I'm sure the weekend will go by even faster since I will be out of town for a Girl's Weekend and a 12k race on Sunday.

Was down at weigh in yesterday, which is amazing to me since I did a bunch of comfort eating on Tuesday when I had a sinus headache. But since we have no junk food in our house, all the stuff I overate what healthy foods. LOL

Sounds like everyone is doing well and having a great week!

Howie - Did you weigh in this morning?

Angela - I though about buying the NROLFW book because a bunch of people on the general message boards have talked about it. I was afraid I wouldn't follow through or get bored (I seem to bore easily with my workouts!). Hopefully going to the gym works for you! Is there a reason you aren't doing Crossfit or is the gym in addition to that?

I don't have gym membership because I don't think I would use it enough to be worthwhile for me. Would be nice to take very classes and possible get a trainer, but we have a treadmill and spin bike at home (not to mention a zillion workout DVD's), so there is really no reason to get a membership. Plus during the summer we spend most of our time outdoors either going for walks or hiking (and hopefully backpacking this summer!).

Hi all! Yes Stacy I did weigh in this morning and couldn't believe I dropped 5 lbs this week. That is really unusual after a 4 lb loss last week but I'll take it. I am now down to the weight I was when Kimberley and I got married which is 310. I have a few big goals coming up which I hope to reach all of them by the mid July. First I hope in the next two weeks I will be able to make it to 306 which will put me at 100 lbs loss since I restarted my healthy eating. Second would be 299 which will be really nice to hear again and I hope to be there by early to mid June. Then third I would like to make it to 290 by mid July which would put me at 200 lbs total loss. These can all be reached if I keep on my current weekly percentage of losing 2 lbs a week.

Howie - You are doing fabulous in regards to reaching your goals. Kudos!

Stacy - Do you ever sit still? Ha ha! How was your 12k? I think the NROLFW book was fine, but I would actually buy one of the newer versions now as the women's book has some outdated exercises that they don't recommend anymore. Or maybe it would be a better idea to check them out at a local library to avoid spending any money in the first place?

I did Crossfit for 4 1/2 years. Last July I tore my ACL and my meniscus while doing an obstacle course and I haven't gone to CF since then. It's quite expensive and the workouts are awesome, but demanding. I'm happy now to just work towards better fitness and to not work myself to death at CF anymore. I used to have major caluses on my hands that were sometimes black from blood and they would rip at the next workouts. Always had bruises too and the workouts are just too much. I figured that I was never going to compete as an athlete anywhere and I really don't need to workout that hard or that way. I wouldn't take it back though. I loved it and I loved the community.
