Who has done 'em?

I'm signed up for a Light and a Challenge. Holding off on signing up for the Heavy (despite peer pressure!!) until I've knocked these two out. Excited, but not really sure what I'm in for. From what I understand, it's a whole lot of suck, and then beer. :)

I know this was posted 2.5 months ago. Have you done your Challenge and Light yet? If not, I could give you a glimpse of what you're in for.

You'll start with the Cadre checking your bricks to make sure you have the required weight.

You'll do a welcoming party (could be an hour, could be 3-4 hours, all depends on the Cadre). This consists of lots of body weight movements with your ruck (squats, push-ups, 8 count body builders, flutter kicks, jumping jacks, etc. etc.).

Then the real suck starts. Your Cadre will give you a weight (in addition to your team weight) that you have to carry with you as a team. You'll move around your host location with the weight, doing missions along the way (like: find your team water, get your team to Xyz Park, get your team to this intersection, etc.).

Along the way during your missions, you'll probably do PT like during the welcoming party. Some of your missions will be to get to Xyz place just so you can do more PT. Also, sometimes your Cadre will give you casualities during your missions, which means you have to now buddy carry a team member.

If your team doens't move fast enough on your missions or work well as a team, you can earn penalties (depends on the Cadre). For those penalities, the Cadre makes you do more PT.

I LOVED GORUCK! I'll definitely be doing more. I'm looking at the Sept. 11th Challenge in NYC and possibly a Heavy in Boston in November. Though I'm scared of the cold in November. It was freezing in August walking around all wet.
