Restaurant Reviews

:drinker: I went to Subway the other day and had the "Veggie Flatizza" I was so disappointed - it wasn't that good, left me still hungry and it used up 410 calories. So I posted about it on my wall. So many people thanked me for my input, some was debating with themselves on trying it. It got me to thinking we could post reviews here that could help with those - should I, should I not- decisions. Now I know that we all have different taste's, but it would be fun to hear everyones opinions. Especially if two people have different opinions of the same item.
So lets hear it. What's your go-to meal at a chain restaurant? Why do you like it? How many calories are in it? How long does it stick to the ribs? What meals would you avoid the next time around? Why? How many calories are in it?
Have fun!

I just review a menu and nutrition content before going.
Rarely can eat anything from a restaurant because I'm diabetic.
Sometimes I'll go by Burger King and buy a plain burger and take it home and put the meat in something healthy for me and toss out the highly caloric carb-loaded bun.0 -
Good idea, Sandy! My go to for fast food if I MUST is a large chili from Wendy's. 270 calories, big portion, very filling. Sodium is high on it, though, but I don't have sodium issues.0

I saw the commercial for the subway flatizza many times and thought it looked like it was worth the 410 cals - nope I was wrong. It lacked in the taste arena, it left me starving in less than a hour. Now I saw the commercials for the Taco Bell Cantina Bowl many times and thought nope doesn't look like it would be worth the 530 cals. Looked good, just not that good. My Sister loves it! She encourage me to try it. WOW, was she right. Fantastic taste, very satisfying, filling. Lunch at this point was 5 hrs ago, I'm just starting to think about food.
Our Burger King used to have the bunless burgers. They would wrap them tightly in lettuce. I think if you ask some of them will still do it.0 -

Love In-n-Out, ok I know its mostly CA only. You can get the burger wrapped in lettuce if you want instead of the bun, protein style. The cheeseburger with grilled onions (the best part, they aren't just grilled they are caramelized) without spread (wich is how i prefer it) is only 400cal. 590cal for a double. Mmmmm
I don't go to restaurants often and I have been avoiding any fastfood chains (with the occasional screwup). In all honest I don't recommend much of anything form a fastfood restaurant as more often then not the taste isn't worth the calories. The fat and salt is wonderful but in reality its all fairly flat in taste. I do take exception with in-n-out and their all fresh burgers.
When I want something quick I tend to go to one of the grocery stores in the area and get a sandwich made. Its a nice chance to have a nice piece of bread and some meat that i don't usually keep at home. Plus its usually very filling, just have to stay away for the chips.0 -
Im with the "RAT"....I havent done the fast food thing in ages...I dont like the taste and all the fat. I got enough of my own, I dont need to add to it
we have a couple sub places however, OMG..the subs are so awesome. Usually I do just the turkey, onion (gotta have lotsa n lotsa onion), tomato and some provolone or cheddar. It runs about 500cal but..if we opt for this for supper, I dont usually have anything else.
Now broasted chicken or baked cod from the deli is a whole other issue. Add a little 3 bean, a little cottage cheese.....hell ya.0 -
I love the In-N-out burgers as well (I'm in Phoenix) If I am running around, it's the only place I would consider getting a burger from - I do the protein style with the lettuce wrap, no cheese and no spread/ketchup with just the regular onions and tomato
The Chili's lighter choice sirloin and steamed broccoli is always a good option as well
- but you can get steak and vegetables at almost any sit down restaurant where if you tell them to hold added butters and if the meat is just grilled with salt and pepper and no marinades0 -
Where I live we have a sub place called Jimmy John's. Yesterday I tried one of their "unwhiches"--all the toppings wrapped in lettuce. I got turkey with light mayo, mustard, provolone, onion, tomato, lettuce and cukes. Now I will say that I absolutely love their bread and I hardly missed it with this sub. 287 calories, so a total win. It definitely didnt keep me as full as a regular sub, but if you paired it with soup or a salad, it would be plenty.0

How fortuitous! I'm on the road again tonight and we got stuck with crappy choices for dinner, but taco bell was one, so I grabbed the cantina bowl. Definitely good in a pinch! Veggies, rice, beans, grilled chicken. Yum.0
