Exercise is as good for your brain as the rest of your body!


Exercising can also keep your brain sharp! Studies show that physical exercise helps your brain resist aging. When we exercise we trigger the release of a substance called BDNF or brain derived neurotrophic factor. BDNF is brain protective and increases nerve protective compounds as well as blood flow to your brain (which naturally decreases as we age). BDNF stimulates stem cells to produce new neurons. Exercise can produce cognitive gains as well as help to reverse aging. Even those who adopt exercise later in life can show benefits and improvement in brain health with exercise!
