Compression knee sleeves

The other thread on compression socks and calve sleeves got me to thinking about compression knee sleeves. Is there a benefit in wearing a compression knee sleeve to help with pain and swelling during long runs? If so, any particular brand/model? Tips?

Swelling, maybe, but i'm not so sure about pain. I had a bruised knee a while back and tried knee braces, KT tape, and ace bandages, and none of them helped. In fact, in general they made the pain worse. But depending on your particular issue, it might help you. I like the zensah calf sleeves and I know they also make knee sleeves.

I have tried KT Tape, a sleeve with patellar hole, and one of those straps. None of it seemed to make much difference. To be honest thought, the KT Tape drove me nuts not long into the run so it might of helped but I couldn't stand it putting the hair on my legs.

I don't have swelling issues though, I just have pain from arthritis and general roughness under my knee cap.

Thanks for the tips. I will prolly just save my money and instead focus on treatment during post run recovery. I still have not tried an ice bath with epsom salts after a long run. That's supposed to help. So far, they are not too bad. But I haven't run over 12 miles since I injured them in April of 2012. I'm building back up. I guess some 30 mile training runs will give me a good gauge of where I am. I have a couple of 50K's scheduled before the 50M in November and I'm hoping my knees do OK for that. If they don't, I guess I have to totally readjust expectations and be happy running 25K's.

Ice baths are God awful until you're out of the tub and then they are AMAZING! ???????? Best recovery ever for me! (No knee issues or injuries just for general fatigue and soreness.)
