We have a cruise to alaska booked the 1st week of August. I will probably be 6-8 weeks out of surgery. Anyone else have this experience. Should I be okay with food choices?

Should be easy, cruise buffets usually have lots of meat veg and fruit. Just get your meat first and stay away from carbs0

I took a trip about 8 weeks after I had surgery. I had extra protein drinks and bars handy "just in case", but it really wasn't a problem finding things to eat that fit within the plan!0

I've been on 3 cruises before but my surgery isn't scheduled till later on in the year. There is always a lower calorie entree on the dinner menu as an alternative to the usual couple of dinner entrees. You can put in extra requests with your meal like skip the potato and bring more vegetables and things like that.
You can also order room service in your room for breakfast and just have fruit and yogurt or a piece of toast and peanut butter. If you want eggs, you will need to go to the dining room for breakfast.
Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style on cruise ships. There is always a huge salad bar that has some plain raw veggies and fruits along with a lot of fatty prepared salads. I would pack some snack, protein bars and maybe a few meal replacement shakes just in case as there is so much tempting food on the ships. Although my motto is the more variety there is the less quality it is. There is a lot of high calorie foods on the ship. I'm sure you can get a healthy omlette made or have cereal and milk in the dining room. You will want to bring your protein power I would imagine for the stage you are at. My friend brought a case of water on board just to have the fresh and secure taste of bottled water.
I would bring some of your literature with you about what you can eat at the stage you are at to refer to when you are feeling challenged.
Hope this helps. Have a great cruise.0
