Conversation starter, it's Memorial Day, what are we all doing? Do you have a military friend or family member you are commemorating today? For me it is my husband James, he served 8 years as a Marine and another 4 years in the Army and is an Iraq veteran.
I am back to my good food choices today too! No beating myself up, just on track, tracking and eating healthy. I might give up weighing for a while if I can, just concentrate on tracking food, eating healthy and moving.

Although the day is just about over where I am, I am commemorating my dad...he is a WW II, one of the very few left!! Thanks Dad for serving in the Navy way back then!!!!0

Adding my thanks to your dad too Cat. And to all those who serve.0

Good morning, lovelies!
I am remembering my veteran dad today, a man of great strength and humor. He loved his children unconditionally and always told us how proud he was of us.
Today is my lazy day. The Y is closed, so no swimming. I will throw some chicken in the crockpot and lounge around with a good book while the rain drips down.0 -
Just updated my exercise in the May Challenge... only five more days! I didn't manage to meet my own challenge, but I think I did well--I tried a lot of new aqua classes and even did some chair yoga!
I'm struggling with the scale today. I really want to get on and see if I've lost, but I don't want the scale to dictate the mood of my day. On the other hand, I'd like proof that I'm on track! Aaarrgghhhhhhhhhhh! I hate the scale!!!!
I'm just ranting and procrastinating. ????
Edited: YAY!! I love the scale! I lost another 3 pounds and am now over 30 pounds GONE forever!0 -

Congratulations, Karen! Great job.
My 2-year-old didn't sleep last night and then this morning she wouldn't open her eyes. Her left one is really swollen and her Doctor's office is closed for the holiday so we ended up taking her to the ER. They said its probably an allergic reaction but it might be a virus. All she wants to do is sleep and cuddle. I feel horrible because her eye was probably bugging her last night and I didn't notice. I should have known something was wrong.
On the way home we picked up pizza because none of us had eaten anything yet and it was after noon. I'm going to try not to go over but pizza is pretty calorie dense and we didn't stop to pick up salad mix. I guess one day won't hurt too bad.0 -
Ugh it is so tough when the little ones are not well. Try not to beat yourself up about not noticing the eye last night, we can't be perfect and sometimes it is very difficult to be observant and patient when they are not letting you sleep! My son (5) had a terrible winter this year, in and out of ER 8 or 9 times with ear and throat infections, had a nasty cough for about 6 months out of the 7 that kept him up at night, it was exhausting and part of the reason why I just gave up trying to lose weight for a few month and just tried to maintain. When you are looking after them, getting little sleep and worrying it is hard to remember yourself too. Eat your pizza and know that the pizza does mean you have to eat other poor choices today, your other meals can still be good ones, and if you go over so be it, tomorrow is a new day x Hope she is feeling better soon.0

haven't really done much today. I guess i should get up and start moving around. Today we will be having bbq'ed steak, as we always do on labor day, so i'm saving some of my calories. I'm sure we will be toasting my brother who is currently off at officers training for the MPs for the past coupe of months.0

Woohoo and hurrah on your bike ride! That's a huge step forward!
I am having such a lazy day. Napping and reading. I'm feeling crappy (back and joint pain) and not sleeping well, so I'm cranky and snappy. Hubs doesn't know what to do--he just keeps avoiding me, LOL. I don't blame him!!! He did bring me a fabulous treat of some bing cherries... I've been dying to pick some up but they're still so pricey but hey, I'm worth it!
It's very quiet in this group today. I'm guessing most of you are traveling, hopefully enjoying family and friends. This used to be a big holiday for my family too, but now we are spread out in Maine, Mass, Vermont, and Kentucky and will gather around July 4th instead when the lake is warm enough to swim in. Good thing we didn't plan a gathering--we've had nonstop rain and cold all weekend. I'm still in a sweater and the heat has been on the last two days.
Okay, enough babbling. Doing okay here food-wise. I blew a lot of calories on lunch so will go with a light supper. Hubs did the grocery shopping without a list from me and managed to blow the entire week's food budget on junk. (hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, and chips) I can't do anything but laugh because he has put up with my filling the house with what he calls "twigs and berries" for the last three months and this is his rebellion. I've got chicken stockpiled in the freezer and plenty of salad stuff, so he can eat his nitrates and I'll keep my own plan this week. Plus he did bring me those awesome cherries.
One really good moment to share--last night I was watching some new reality show called Downeast ****ering (about people who use Uncle Henry's to "****er" and make money), and these two Mainers wound up digging around in a gemstone mine and found some nice pieces. This is something hubs and I did several years ago and really loved it. We looked up some websites last night to see what mines are letting people in to dig and talked about doing one in Bethel this summer. I KNOW I'll be up for it. I'm already 30 pounds lighter! One more part of my life that I am reclaiming right now!!!
(Apparently MFP won't let me type in the work DIC-KER)0 -

Congratulations and i'm so jealous. I'll be happy when summer is over and i can get back on the bike. I'll have to take it in to get the tires replaced and tuned up and the seat and handlebars set for me plus a shiny new helmet but I look forward to it.
I went to the movies this afternoon. Had a nice lunch just before going so I was full and bought a bottle of water to drink. Then i broke down and bought a scale, I'm just tired of waiting. Spent a good half hour in Bed Bath and Beyond trying to make up my mind but finely made a choice. Now I just have to wait till tomorrow to weight myself.

Yep quiet day today.. but a lot of family is gathering, I know in the Midwest after such a long winter people are out and grilling and partying.. judging by our neighborhood last night. Of course.. me and the hubby are getting old and our staying up late was until almost 10!!!!! LOL
I decided as soon as I can retire, which will be a few years yet, I really want to retire to Spain. Temperate year round climate, beach, pools, lost of activities, hiking etc. Well.. if not all year at least spending the winter in Spain every year and the summer with the kids in England.. hell.. I just want a long retirement sooo.. on with the healthy eating and exercise!0 -
Congrats Karen! I am finally back home after a very busy, very fun weekend. Was feeling pretty good about myself, I did go over.on my calories and I don't think I drank ANY water today, but I decided I am just going to resolve to hit it hard tomorrow. Then, I just saw myself on video from this weekend. I want to die. Not really but holy crap. What I see in the mirror is NOT what was on that video! My husband doesn't understand ow depressed I get seeing myself am but he wanted me to see the footage, I said as long as I am not in It. Sure as ****, 30 seconds in there is me in a tank top and shorts with my giant knockers hanging out. I have NO business wearing a tank top and push up bra I had just bought that day I know realize. I was hoping I could get the girls lifted off my knees, I now see they were out on display for the whole world to see. I looked damned ridiculous. Stuffed pig, table for 12. Ugh. So far to go. Back to it this week.0

Oh, Heather, would you EVER say those things to someone else? To your daughter?
I know exactly what you mean--I had the lifeguard take some video of me on the swim harness so I could show my doc and I was freaked out and disgusted. I then showed my shrink who talked me off the ledge and made me say nice things about how strong and youthful my body looked. Egad. VERY hard to do.
You are such a beautiful woman--please be kind to you.0 -
Hello Hello! Finally made it back home yesterday evening from our tournament trip to Knoxville. My daughters team did not win but it was such a fun experience and I hope we get to do it again next year! As expected I didn't stay within calories last week, it was hard eating at the few places available and not having water always nearby, but I did walk about 25 miles from Tues-Sun so I count that as a win! I weighed myself this morning for a quick check to see how bad, I was only up 5is lbs, so really not bad. I will weigh in on Wed as normal and hope to have lost some of the 5 but I really hope by the following week to be back at my pre trip weight or less!
Today I honored my grandfather who served in the Navy and Army and my stepdad who is currently serving in the Army for a little over 20 years now. We had grilled cheeseburgers (with pineapple/bacon), grilled corn, salad, baked beans & watermelon today. It was nice to have a yummy home cooked meal! I took today as rest day, so no exercise, but hopefully on track tomorrow.0 -
Welcome back, Frances! Glad you had a fun trip!0
