Im new here. I am unsure if I really belong, since I don't know if I have PCOS. I was just diagnosed insulin resistant and prescribed Metformin on Friday. Years ago, when I was 18 my doctor suspected PCOS and did an internal ultrasound and concluded nothing. I am in the process of procuring my records from that time in my life. It was incredibly scary being told at that age by a not so great doc that I may be infertile. My husband and I have been together for 9 years and I've never been pregnant. I've been off and on BCPs. Currently off. I have terrible back acne, horrible cramping, irregular cycles, NO sex drive. So many doctors have dismissed my complaints and I FINALLY found a doctor that has validated my symptoms and is treating me. My A1C was 5.8 and fasting glucose was 131. I have been trying to lose weight honestly since I was 16 with no success. I am hoping the Metformin can help get my levels under control so I can get healthy. She also put me on an iron supp and rx Vitamin D (5000iu 2x weekly) because I was deficient in both and it should help with my energy so I have the drive I need to work out.
