Hi, asia! I usually eat about 1600 calories, with at least 75 grams of protein. I follow MFP suggested guidelines on the fat and carbs. My nutritionist wants me to consume at least 100 grams of protein, eat healthy fats and cut back on the carbs. I do not eat back exercise calories on most days. That said, I must confess that my 1600 calories are not always good choices. I am still a stress-eater. I know that I am heading for trouble if I don't stop. My current calorie intake has me maintaining my weight of 152 lbs at 5'8". I am moderately active.
What about you? Have you been able to determine how many calories it takes to maintain your current weight? There are some activity calculator recommendations on MFP that are pretty good.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy weekend!

Hi Maggy: My nutritionist said to stick between 1200 - 1500 cal. 60 gram of protein a day. I usually eat closer to 80-90 gram of protein. I have know idea how many calories to maintain weight, because I still have plenty I want to loose. My first goal is 50lbs. I had a sleeve done back in 2011. I started out over 500lbs and I still would like to loose more weight. I do not want to eat back my calories either. The whole point of joining MFP was to get back on track, back to basics and see if I could get some support. I have moved to a semi-remote location in northern Ontario. There is not a lot to offer up here, so I have to rely on myself and what is on hand for exercise equipment etc. Any words of help of advise are greatly welcome and appreciated. Thanks Asia0

Most people really trying to lose go for 1200 calories a day, some even less. At 1500, a lot of people are maintaining. Maggy is maintaining at 1600. Cutting from 1600 to 1500 would lose a pound per month, and most want to lose faster than that.
Good luck.0 -

The biggest thing for me has been weighing and tracking everything I eat. I would be eating a lot more every day if I didn't.0

Tracking has definitely kept me focused, on track and honest.0

im 10 years out -
and yeah i regained it all in the past 5 years .
now 1400-ish
aim for 60+ protein
and at least 10k steps on my fitbit, plus weight lifting with 5 lb dumbells , and generally better choices, it seems to be working ok , slips and slides and extended time to accomplish this goal rests squarely on my shoulders.0 -
I can appreciate the regain. but your on the right track. I find if I schedule my meals the night before it really helps, even if I don't always get to follow it exactly.
Good luck on your weight loss journey.0
