***This is a quick sum of the event for quick reference! If you want to know all of the rules, go here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1306446-challenge-the-phoenix-egg ***
Burn calories to incubate your egg to hatch and nurture your phoenix!
The more you burn, the bigger and stronger your phoenix will become!
1,000 cal or less — Egg is still just an egg. (No ticker image prize.)
1,001 - 3,000 cal — The egg has hatched! You have a tiny baby phoenix! Cheep, cheep!
3,001 - 8,000 cal — The hatchling is now a fletchling. It always looks up to you, and tries to fly, but can only manage to flutter.
8,001 - 16,000 cal — Your phoenix can now fly, but it has not developed a glow just yet. It needs more of a burn from you so it can really ignite!
16,001 — 25,000+ cal — Your phoenix is fully grown and glows with a light so bright it inspires others! Together, you prove that if you keep trying, you can do anything!
The more time you are active, the better the chance you’ll get a wish!
We will primarily specify winners of the wish via the amount of logged minutes of activity!
The minimum required for eligibility for a wish is 1,680 minutes of logged activity. This might sound like a lot, but when you do the math, you can easily split this into 60 minutes every day for 28 days! That’s rather simple!
Your chance of winning the wish increases with the intensity level of those activities. (Jogging will be considered higher than just strolling through the store at 2mph. Workouts will be considered higher than simply standing.)
Big Shots get extra bling!
If you accomplish at least 840 minutes of logged activity you will have silver or gold markings on your phoenix! (You choose which!) As you might realize, 840 minutes (30 minutes per day for 28 days) is double the minimum goal!
Steps to Participation
1. Shape your ashes into an egg!
:. Crimson .:. Amber .:. Viridian .:
:. Sapphire .:. Amethyst .:. Ebony .:
:. Ivory .:
2. Make an entry post!
Let us know that you are participating by posting on the event thread! We’d like to know your: Name. The color egg you’ve chosen. A goal you aim to achieve with the aid of this challenge by the end of the month. Your most common activities or the activities that you plan to log towards this goal.
Example:
Hiyaz! I’m Muse! I have a Sapphire egg! I want to accomplish at least 1,300 minutes of activity this month via calisthenics and strength/weight training on a bowflex. I will more than likely be taking walks and logging each time I clean the house, too!
3. Update us on your progress whenever you can!
Tell us the dates you moved around and logged it! Tell us what you did, how long you did it, and how many calories you burned to incubate your egg or feed your phoenix! (Including your name will help us count up your stats when determining what prize(s) you earned!)
Examples:

Hiyaz! My name is Muse!
Yes, I have chosen to participate in this challenge with a Sapphire egg, but I'm not aiming for a wish. (After all, I'm the one drawing the commissions! :P )
I do want to try and do at least 2,000 minutes of activity come this July! It's one of the hardest months of the year because it's the one of the hottest where I live. (Louisiana) My usual workout routines are calisthenics and strength/weight training on the household's bowflex. Walking out here is hard for me because my neighborhood isn't the safest and we don't have sidewalks; did I mention the heat? lol Though, now that I'm recovered from my knee injury, I really want to start picking up around the house more--no matter the temperature! (That's what AC is for, right? haha)
Who wants to do the Phoenix Egg Challenge with me in July?0 -
Ooh, this sounds fun!
I'm Jamie and will be going with an amethyst egg. My next planned program is alternating weeks of Insanity and the Combat Ultimate Warrior Hybrid calendar along with some 30 day challenges that I found on a Kindle app, and I'll be aiming for 1,500 calories burned this month. I couldn't decide between the two programs, so I decided to just do them both at once (not in the same day...that would be crazy, lol). Since it's summer, I'll also be counting the time I spend getting my yard work done.0 -
Mine should say 1500 minutes rather than calories burned.0
-
July has begun! Don't forget to log your progress through the month! We want to know minutes AND calories burned!

I have not forgotten about our winners. I've just finished NaNoWriMo, healing up my feet/knees/legs, and I'm about to reorganize my life again as I do my best to lose weight for my wedding (which is looking like it's going to take place 09.06.2015).
I had to drop my job as a cashier and I have promised my fiance that I would make up for it by becoming a full time self employed author. We even made up "cleaning duties" to help me remember to do chores and such as well.
For right now, I'm focusing on the end of my NaNoWriMo novel. I managed to type over 24,000 words on the last day, but a lot of that is almost unreadable. I literally let go of grammar and there were times I couldn't find the right word and instead of pausing before figuring it out, I typed out each and every guess. I was fluidly typing so even random "doo pee doo" here or there was found so far. Needless to say, if I don't go through that portion now and make sure it is intelligible, I will have NO idea what any of it was meant to be a couple of months from now. So decoding my 10 hour frantic typeathon is on the top of my list. I will then be working on rewards. Thank you so much for your patience!0
