Exercise is killing me and my weight loss

I've started moving all my lifting to F, S, S, M and making T, W, Th my rest days because I gain weight every week from the water retention from my workouts. I know it's normal to retain water when your muscles are sore, but it is so annoying to see that gain on the scale when you are following the diet and exercising. I am doing a pretty intense workout with a trainer from my gym, but it still sucks to put in the effort and gain even if it's just water.

Its really neat that you've recognized the issue and have adjusted to resolve. That type of intuition will help you be successful long term.
I couldn't exercise last week but one day (yesterday) because of my foot. I have plantar fasciitis but I recognized it was going south real fast and rested and stretched my feet. Worked out good. I went to my podiatrist and he gave me an Rx for steroids but I haven't had to start them. Thank goodness! I just bought a new pair of New Balance walking/running shoes.0 -
I hear ya...I was more active this week than I've been in awhile (did a 5k on Saturday and Sunday on a super hilly course- jogging and walking) and when I got on the scale this morning (today is my weigh in day at clinic) I am down only 3 lbs from last week. Last week I was down 7 and did nothing compared to how much I did this week to work out. While I know and recognize that I am doing what's right for my body and health (by working out) it's still discouraging to not see that number as low as I hoped. I really thought this week I would be out of the 240's but looks like I will be stuck at 241 and have that goal for next week!0

Well, thank you for you posts! I just did my weekly weigh in at end of 7 weeks and only lost 1.5 lbs. I was so disappointed. I started walking and riding recumbent bike this week as suggested by my center. They said that Muscles retain water when they are being used and that was my lack of loss. I am down almost 24 pounds after 7 weeks and I am happy about that but it certainly was disheartening on the scale. I have adhered strictly to my diet....would expect this if I had cheated!!! haha Ok, I am over it. Keeping with the plan and the exercise too! Thanks for the support - we can DO it!!!! Right? Drink up and cheers!:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou: :laugh:0
