Good morning and Happy Monday!

Did everyone have a good weekend? Mine was good... got a lot done, so feeling good about that! :-)

Went to the Weight Watcher meeting and was up 1.6, but I was able to maintain my Free status so I didn't have to pay. And I have been doing much better with my eating. Not sure what the deal was last week... ate everything in sight. And this week, no cravings and content with my healthy food. Now, the trick will be to maintain my weight while we are vacation!

Less than a week until the Tough Mudder, and now I'm starting to freak out about it. I was doing pretty good until Carol started posting YouTube videos of the obstacles.... :noway:

I did great this weekend. I am hoping to show a loss this week. Time will tell.

The Tough Mudder sounds fun and I'm sure you will do great!

I'm so excited for your Tough Mudder! I really hope you all have a great time! You will feel so accomplished when you are done and the comaraderie (from your teammates and complete strangers) will be fabulous!

My weekend wasn't terrible although I did have more sugar and unhealthy food than I planned on having. I've come to the conclusion that just eating NSNG/LCHF (no sugar no grains/low carb high fat) is better for me than trying to have a Carb Nite. The CN never actually ends for me and it turns in to a Carb Weekend...and sometimes a 4 day weekend. I'm good with it though and glad I tried it. I know for sure that I'm a sugar and carb addict and just can't have just one night (or even one meal) that includes those types of foods.

I've still been scaling back on my workouts too and I'm up almost 3 lbs and 1.5 % body fat since May 23rd. Time to get back to it. :)

Thank you Howie and Montana_girl for the condolances.

Montana_girl Just have fun at Tough Mudder and you don't have to do all the obstacles if you are not comfortable with it. Pushing yourself is one thing and getting hurt for an obstacle course? Well.....

Angela I'm glad you found what works for you.
I have my 3rd carb nite yesterday, might have overdone it but we'll see! fingers crossed. Found a new Chinese hand pulled noodle place. I love noodles but hand pulled noodles are different. The closet comparison I can make is like eating fresh pasta.

I did good last week even with my carb nite, I average 1500K a day.
Between Muay Thai and jogging I burned quite a bit of calories for the week. I started Muay Thai when I started Carb nite and I love it!!! Its a full body workout AND you are actually learning a skill.

I will post my exact weight loss progress after 4 carb nites. I hope my weight loss will continue. I've been in a plateau for so long.

    How was everybody's weekend?
Saturday was a busy day for me, big dog adoption weekend. I placed my foster who is a pure bred, gorgeous, mellow Siberian husky that is good with kids and small in a great home. He had people lining up for him! Interviewed over 10 families and finally picked one. On to the next foster!!

Great to see everyone doing well!!

On the Carb Nights.. I know that I cannot do it very often as that is partly how I ended off track the last time. This time we are had it at 6 week intervals, and are thinking it may need to be pushed out just a wee bit farther.

The weekend was busy with a Veteran Benefit shooting match raising funds for Veterans and their families. After the long day and getting up early, we decided to go out a little bit... to Panda Express. I got plain chicken, steamed veg, and my carb side.. Beijing Beef.. On Sunday my truck broke down (Suburban blew a tire last weekend, and I have not picked up a new tire yet). So I did some stress eating... Celery and Peanut Butter LOL!!! Bill for the truck today was more than I wanted, but 1/2 of what I was expecting. It is a good thing since I am leaving this Friday for Oregon and the big MGM Ironman (not what you think, it is a shooting match too). My son is shooting it, I am just around to provide services..

As of this morning I am still at the same weight I was on Friday, so I post that as a WIN!!

You better watch those peanut butter and celery binges Mark. I hope your son does well at that match. That must be fun for you to have him interested and doing the same things you like.

heronh my weekend was great. We had some family over for a cookout Saturday and then Sunday I got to go to the range with a friend and try out a new rifle I picked up Friday.

I love that you foster dogs, we got both of ours from the local humane society. I would much rather get one that way then to go to a breeder.

Howie, that Celery/PB binge was about 4 stalks and maybe 3T of PB. :D I also read what I wrote again and realize I must have been in a fuzz...that was horrible writing..

Heronh, I have great respect for your fostering dogs. Years ago I used to foster and train Rottweilers, then getting them out to good homes. I really had a rough time letting them go. Right now we have 4 dogs, all rescued, only 2 of them from a kennel. One was found as a puppy in a dumpster by a friend, the other was a dump on our remote farm road that we saved and never found a home for (so she has one now).

Mark I think its great that your son is competing!! And on the carb nite I completely understand how you can get off track. The day after Carb nite is hard because I am still craving carbs.

Howie: Cookout and range day sounds like the perfect weekend.

Thank you Howie and Mark for the comments on fostering.
Mark, that is great that you used to foster and train Rotties. I always feel that they are a misunderstood breed. All the rotties I've met are all sweet. Sure, I can see how a big "mean looking" dog like that can get into trouble if not taught appropriate behaviors and I blame the owners.
I know its hard to let them go, there were a few that I REALLY want to keep and some that I was happy that they are gone lol. I also enjoy training, I grew so much as a person from training and I enjoy watching their progress and how they are figuring things out and watching that moment when they got it! Its very rewarding.
In fact I recently adopted my foster. A young mellow husky that is strong and do well on a sled team heck yeah. Some day she could be lead dog.
I LOVE fostering!! To date My boyfriend and I have placed 26 huskies. I get updates from their new families and sometimes I get to see them, its great! To see how happy the new families are and how happy my fosters are just warms my heart. The ones that remembers you the most are the injured ones that we had to nurse back to health. They remembered, its neat!

I've also decided to continue with Muay Thai after 1 month. I really like it its a full body workout and you are learning a skill. However I dread the part where you have to do partner drills. I'm the only beginner right now so I'm the slow one and I feel that nobody wants to get stuck with me :( Also everybody always get the same partner which I don't get. I would like to have different partners so I won't get complacent.. I get all anxious and nervous when its time to partner up and I'm sure that affects my performance. So... any suggestions?

I don't know diddly about Muay Thai; however I do know about TKD. You would be what we called fresh meat, and you are correct most likely in your assumption about how they feel. Part of it comes from being frustrated since the new fighters lack control and discipline, so you tend to get hurt more (or they do). My advice: keep going!! Everyone was where you are right now at some point. They kept going and are now way ahead. It takes time to be part of that "circle".

As an aside, and not being there so I can armchair, I fault the instructor(s) for fostering this. The good ones will make you rotate so that situation does not happen. You should be fighting others and not the same people every time. That is what makes your learning stale.. My 2 cents..

Mark, Thank you for your advice. Its comforting to know that that is just the dynamics. This is a whole new social situation for me
I am just gonna keep going to every class, work hard and be patient. So, I might be a slow learner but I am a hard worker.

I don't think the instructor realize this or notice it? I've decided to get a private session to work on whatever he thinks will help me at this stage of my skill. I will bring up the partnering issue to him.

On the plus side I had a great class last evening, it really helps when I'm partnering with someone that is about my height, patient, upbeat and is not rolling their eyes constantly. I find that I actually pick things up faster.

I was just joking about the celery Mark. That is a pretty good thing if your going to over eat. I really need to amp up my exercise. I don't know how much I can do though. My left leg and foot really gets numb and hurts when I do things. I have had a couple back surgery's and that is a byproduct of that. So mostly I just do walking but even so I need to up that.

Things went really well this week. I was up 5 last week but that came off plus 2 more. I knew most of that was water retention. Anyway only 3 more to get under 300. I am so hoping that it will come off this week. I can't wait to be back in the twos.
