Carb Flu - Carb Withdrawals - What can it do?

Anyone know if "carb flu" or carb withdrawals can make you angry, aggressive, manic, and uncaring?Or insatiably hungry? Not giving a flip about anything and being a crazy person? Last week before my oreo binge, I was feeling sick like a sinus infection/cold type of thing...now I'm a raving psychotic lunatic. Can I blame carb withdrawal or is this just me?

This should help, it's not specifically low-carb, but the jump from the SAD WOE to pretty much any whole foods based diet will result in the same withdrawal effect, so the timeline is pretty accurate for just about any such transition.

The "cure" is to not worry about calories during the transition, except to make sure you're getting enough. If you're hungry, eat! Just be sure to eat good, healthy sources of fats and proteins, with carbs from vegetables.0 -
Make sure you're getting the sodium, potassium, iodine, and magnesium that your body needs when transitioning to a LC diet. Also drink water every chance you get! You'll start to shed a lot of water weight and won't be able to hold on to these nutrients as easily. It'll cause headaches, nausea, fatigue and all the crappy stuff that will knock the wind out of you. Salt your food, try sugar free powerade zero and maybe some chicken broth with a chunk of butter in there. I just made it though the same thing and am FINALLY feeling better! Good luck to you0

I'm really not cutting them that drastically from the last three months... I started watching what I was eating back in mid-February, and just started this about 3 weeks ago with a midway oreo binge.
Before my numbers were 130-160, depending on exercise.
Now my base number is 93-130, base to pretty decent exercise day.
I'll read that post here in a bit. And I know I'm not getting all my minerals. I can't afford my normal vitamins/supplements at the moment.
Thanks, y'all...0 -

Other than the Powerade Zero, I second this. The sugar-free Gatorade stuff sweetens it with aspartame, which can exacerbate headaches. Okay to use in a pinch, when you need the electrolytes like *right now* and don't have anything else, but if you do it regularly, you'll probably be better off making your own homemade electrolyte drinks.
I highly recommend checking out homemade bone broth/stock recipes. It's pretty easy to make, and you get the added benefit of gelatin, which is great for the gut lining and bone/joint health. And it's cheaper than store bought, and allows you to use the good stuff in the bones that you'd otherwise throw away.0
