Anyone else doing a diet they hate?

I've been going to a trainer. Since starting to see him, I lost 5 pounds just through working hard. Well, now he's asking that I be on this diet, that is basically keto. I'm doing it because I trust him, but ugh, I've never enjoyed eating less in my life. Nothing sweet, not even fruit. So today for breakfast I had a half cup full fat greek yogurt, 1 tbsp cashew butter and some unsweetened cocoa powder mixed up, because at least it feels like ice cream and isn't bitter like low-fat greek yogurt (and my fat intake needs to be higher). Holy crap. It just tastes like fat. And now I'm reading about something on r/keto called keto flu, which sounds awful and I need to stave off immediately by taking magnesium and potassium supplements. Wtf did I sign myself up for? And of course the water weight is falling off like crazy, with 3 pounds lost in 2 days, so it seems to be working, even if I now hate eating.

Bourbon has no carbs, so I've got that going for me which is nice...

I have been doing Keto since last March on and off. I just can't seem to stick it because it is so boring and tedious. It does work though. I have lost 65lbs while on this diet but ugh I wish it could be more fun.

I did keto once upon a time and actually had the same problem, I miss fruit and yogurt something fierce. There are keto options yogurt wise, if you can find them, with diabetic yogurt. As far as just sweet stuff, Atkin's bars and stuff like that really help with that as well. I lost about 20 lbs on keto before I gave up on it. I'm starting to realize if I don't really like what I'm eating (which it kind of sounds like you don't), it's a lot harder for me to stick to a diet.

If you want to try something that you can still have fruits/veggies etc, try something like paleo. Still healthy carbs, no processed crap. And if you can't do that either, just do it the old fashioned way! Calories in/calories out. It's not worth it (at least to me) to be on a diet I hate, because it shouldn't be just a diet, it should be a lifestyle change, especially if you're looking to lose a lot of weight (like I am).
  • So glad to know I'm not crazy. Thank you! This diet is going to be very temporary-- like, until the wedding next month. I miss carbs.
