Most of my "diet" is protein based as the foods I crave are naturally good sources of protein and am now curious if you can consume to much while preggo ?

In one day I can consume 200g of protein by eating eggs, cottage cheese, nuts, peanut butter, chicken ( eat chicken every day )...

My dietician says that we do need extra protein while pregnant. She told me to keep my macros the same as I have them now. 50% carbs, 30% fat, 20% protein & keep eating 1800 calories til I hit my second trimester. Of course I eating nothing but carbs right now :) I think that's fine as long as you're feeling good.

I always thought body weight divided by 2 is that amount of protein you need. I know protein is good and helps in the growth of baby, but not sure about "too much protein". Might be a question for your Dr or midwife. I read some articles that too much protein isn't recommended but I don't remember the reasons on it and how good the source is. Everyone usually just gives opinions rather than facts most of the time. Ehh.

I agree, it does seem that there are a lot of opinions on "Diet" as in what you can and cannot have... How much is enough? How much is not enough? Artificial sweeteners? Fish? and so on... It's so dang stressful!! Oh, and don't get me started on calories! Gaw!!!

My understanding is that it's difficult on the digestive system to break down protein - also requires a lot if water. So, if you are water deficient and eating a ton of protein, you could easily wind up with kidney stones or liver issues. Not sure how much is too much, though.
