Running on off days?

I know some of you run on your off days. My husband and I decided to start c25k to help us drop some lbs. this summer. This is the first time either of us have even attempted running. Yesterday was our first day and I felt fine at the time. However, today was my AP medium day. I cleaned house first and then did it. My legs felt a bit sore while I was doing the squats and BOR but I feel okay now. You think I will be able to do both? I really want to try! I plan to each each 3 days per week on alternating days with one rest day.

Depending on your work capacity - you might try running after your AP session, then you'll still have that extra day to recover before your next AP session.
Unfortunately, taking on another activity that competes for recovery might not be the best way to drop some lbs. If you wish to improve your cv fitness/endurance, then incorporate the running, but eat more to mitigate the effects. Or else you'll probably find your lifting sessions rapidly head south...
In either case, sleep, adequate nutrition and good hydration will make the difference on how you cope with it. My advice is to make sure you eat enough to support both activities though, or you may find you slowly drive yourself into the ground...0 -

I hadn't really thought about doing them both on the same day. I'm a teacher so I'm off for the whole summer and I thought it would be nice to have something to do every day, with one rest day. Tomorrow is my light day, I suppose I could try to do both if I do it early. I have a massage scheduled at 2 and I won't want to workout after that.
What initially started my interest in this program was my daughter. She keeps begging me to do a 5k with her but I refuse to do one if I can't run it. Then my husband and I started talking about it and thought it would also help us drop some weight this summer. The last thing I want or need to do is sit around the house eating all summer. Of course, CV health is also extremely important, especially at my age. I have been eating back my exercise calories from this. I have to, I am absolutely famished right now!!! I am also getting plenty of rest...it's easy while I'm not working.
Thanks for your advice!0
