Meditation
Trinity Sunday, Trinity Week, celebrated the concept of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Psalmist acknowledged God for all the creation—sky, earth, humans, angels—and how amazing God for all these accomplishments. The Old Testament lesson in Genesis 1 and 2, told the creation story.
Before time began, God was. God created by calling into existence. It spoke of the Holy Spirit moving across the deep. We learned in John 1 that Jesus was the Word of God, who helped create everything that was made. From the first chapter of the Bible, the Trinity was identified.
While the interpretations of the first chapter can be cause for disagreement, the most important part of this all was that we recognize that God was the Creator. Other beliefs were secondary issues. Although the New Testament lesson in Matthew encouraged all followers to strive to be unified. In various translations, the words were ‘be at peace’ or ‘agree with each other’ or ‘be of like mind.’
But Jesus was talking to his eleven disciples, who were not in agreement as to who Jesus was. Judas was not there, but still, some disciples doubted. This was a great assurance to any devout people who have had moments of doubt. Some of the eleven apostles doubted, too. They weren’t sure that Jesus was the Messiah, that he was really Jesus.
Jesus responded by affirming that ‘all power and authority was given’ to him. God the Father gave all power to the Son, Jesus.
And Jesus took it one step further, telling his followers to go into all the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus established the trinity and asked for all his followers to baptize in the name of the three persons of the Godhead.
And so we celebrate Trinity Sunday, honoring the command to make disciples by showing the Creator God, the son Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit among us.
Thanks be to God.¬¬

Conclusion
Trinity Sunday, Trinity Week established the three person aspect of God, from the Creator, the father, and the Son, and the Spirit that moved among the waters at Creation. The greatness of God restated in the Psalm lesson. The New Testament epistle called for unity and prayed for the Trinity to empower followers:
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
And Jesus, himself, commanded us in the Great Commission to make disciples and baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The power of the Holy Spirit which moved across the face of the deep space in creation is at work in our lives today. The immense power of the big bang is a force on our behalf in our lives.
Go out and be ready for God to do mighty things in your life—for the glory of God.*

The Bible is an amazing book. Each time I read it I can see something new. It took me many years and many trips through Genesis to realize that God said we when he was creating the world. A pastor in a teaching one Sunday said Jesus was present with God when he created the world. I had an aha moment. As I said I can read the same chapter and get so much more information. Yes the Bible is the most interesting and informative book ever written. I took disciple twice and enjoyed it very much. Every Sunday for 34 weeks I went to two courses and was never bored nor did I ever miss a class. I am quitting work at the end of August and plan to find a Bible reading God fearing church and go to Bible study. Chaplynne has me trying to learn more and more. She has so much to offer us in virtuous living. I may not log my food or exercise when I am not
Feeling well but I try to read the lesson of the day. Thank you.
