Getting Active (in more ways than one!)

Hi. My name is Stasia, and I live in the Central Valley of California, USA. I have been treated for mental illness since I was 14, and have gone through multiple diagnosis'. I only heard about BPD last October (2013) on my 5th (out of 6) hospital stay. I am also being treated for bipolar 2 disorder, PTSD, GAD, and panic disorder. I was previously diagnosed with mild OCD, and severe MDD. Over my 13 years of treatments I have tried SO many meds, and they NEVER had any positive effect. Only side effect after side effect including taking me from a pretty fit 140 lbs, to an overwhelming 242 lbs. It also decreased my energy and motivation to do anything about the gain.
I have happily been off meds (of course under a dr supervision, and tapering off!) for about 2 months. I already can feel my energy increase, and have started slowly increasing my activity. I'm also making smarter food choices, and looking for healthy alternatives to the cravings I always seem to get. I am working weekly with a DBT therapist to increase mindfulness, emotional regularity, and other important stuff to manage all the pain, anxiety, mood swings, and other "fun" stuff that goes along with mental illness.
I know I have a long journey to recovery. I've started getting involved in NAMI for support. But I want getting fit, healthy and active support! I hope others want to take this journey with me!
