Got back good news!

My triglycerides went from 368 to 254, but i need to be under 160 to be in the 'normal' range. Good news is with LCHF and increasing my exercise to 3 days a week or so (im not really regular with exercise) i dropped it over 100 points and need less than 100 to be 'normal'. Both the doctor and i were very excited.

The rest of the cholesterol numbers were well with in the normal ranges, which was nice because you hear so much about heavy cream, whole milk, whole cheese, more meat of any kind, etc making your cholesterol worse, but it didnt. BACON! I get MOAR bacon now  My good cholesterol went up just slightly and the bad cholesterol went down just slightly actually.

I also got her to let me increase my metformin to 1500mg a day. I was on 1000mg and my insulin was 18, out of a scale to 24. I told her i felt like i was bailing a boat with a hole in the bottom, i had to walk a perfect line everyday and i still wasnt losing weight, but I wasnt gaining it anymore. I brought in some NIH studies showing all their studies/tests are 1500mg a day or above and a couple studies said that because of the higher hormone levels, especially androgen, that we need to be on the lower end of 'normal' for insulin. And one study i had said to use metformin alone, you needed to be 1500mg to 2000mg a day. I know its different for every person but she said no problem we can raise it to 1500mg and see what insulin levels are in a couple months.

Im so happy not only because of my good numbers but that she's willing to listen and work with me on the insulin/metformin thing. I love that the LCHF diet and metformin together helped so much to make me a healthier person. And LCHF is just yummy!

Just thought I'd share my good news!

That is awesome, hon! Seriously. I dropped my cholesterol, overall, by 20-30 points in about 3 months of having eggs every day for breakfast! I'm so glad to see someone else having such positive results. And finding a doctor who will work with you - listen to your suggestions - and be willing to try things? That, my darling, is a godsend!!! Thanks for brightening my day!!

You definitely found yourself a gem of a doctor!

And your news is awesome to hear! It's always great to have another person with improved numbers to drive yet more nails into the coffin of "eating fat is going to give you a heart attack."

That's great! Thanks for sharing. I really need to get my insulin levels tested. I know I managed to drop my triglycerides (from 217 to 52) and my cholesterol numbers went from average to really good after going on a low carb moderate fat high protein diet. ;) Now that I know to bump the fat up and protein down a bit, I'm hoping for even better results.
