IBS and 5:2 diet - good or bad idea?

I'm really struggling to loose weight and before my diagnosis the only thing that seemed to work was the 5:2 diet. I'm limited on the amount of exercise I can do due to severe fatigue / chronic pain / damage from breaking my spine in five places which isn't helping matters so I can't go through the route of sweating ones jiggly *kitten* off harder.

Could anyone tell me if restarting the diet might cause problems or trigger a flare up? Or whether it could even help matters by giving my stomach rest days?

Whenever I have a bad flare up a fast is the only thing to make me feel better.

Thanks. I'm learning fasting seems to be the only way to settle my stomach once it goes into over drive (like Saturday night when I got glutened at a friends BBQ - not fun) as even sipping water feels like I've eaten broken glass. I'm just a little worried it might also set off IBS when things are good.

I guess there's only one way to find out!

Last time I tried to fast for a day I ended up with a really bad flare up. I never tried to do that again. I guess this works differently for different people. If you don't feel well while fasting, don't push it. What works best for me is very small meals every few hours. When I have flare-ups, I split my meals into tiny pieces and eat them over long time.

Thanks, I think the only answer is to try and see on a week where I don't have any other plans!
