Weight loss after quitting breast feeding

Hi, my daughter has started to wean and in the last three weeks has gone from four feeds a day EBF to one feed from me, formula and solids (her choice!). However, without changing my calorie intake or exercise level my weight has dropped 1.5kg (3.3lbs) in that time. My calories are set to just below maintenance and are nowhere low enough to expect this kind of result. I can only assume the two are linked - I was told that lactating mothers 'hold' five kilos of fat to facilitate milk production and that these drop off without effort once you stop nursing. What is your experience?

I want to know this too!! I wish my son would start drinking less breast milk already but so far he's eating more and more solids and just as much breastmilk on top of that as last month! (I express so i know exactly how much he drinks)
Anyway, hopefully soon I'll be in your position!

I think that's very true in my previous experience and that of my fellow mommy friends. This time I am supplementing with formula and pumping, and I have about 60 lbs to lose and none of it has budged.

I BF my second baby for a full year, and I had the worst time losing weigh during that period. We weaned when he turned one (a month ago), and, with eating at a calorie deficit, I've lost about 9 pounds (about 3 kilos). It came off at an expected rate given my calorie deficit and wasn't particularly fast aside from the initial drop, which happens whenever I start losing weight.

Point being, I didn't notice a sudden drop, but it sounds like a lot of women do.

I am really hoping this is true. I just started weaning my 1 one year old. It's going very slowly because she's not ready and I'm not exactly forcing it. We have gone from about 4 feeds a day down to 2-3 (depending on how the day is going). I am hoping to have her fully weaned in the next month or two. I've been running 3 days a week and walking 3 days and my weight has not budged. I am really really really hoping it's because I'm still breastfeeding.

I think this is crazy and it's happening to me too! Not "the last ten pounds" but how about the entire 50 I have to lose and none of it is coming off! There's a ton of surplus there for her and I'm so hungry when I breastfeed even though I only pump like 12-16 ounces a day (low producer, medical reasons). She has acid reflux though so I want to keep giving her my milk, especially since she's a preemie. GRR lol.

Thanks. Sounds like I'm having an easier time than some - lucky me! Let's just hope I manage to keep it off.
