I was able to eat 1/2 tunafish sandwich (on dark pumpernikle) last night for dinner. Didn't feel any heaves or dumping. This to me is hopefully the start of success, especially where I had such a hard time with the stricture. :flowerforyou:

I was sleeved 9 months ago and still have not had bread, pasta or rice. I'm afraid if I get started, I won't be able to stop! At this point, I no longer miss those foods. If I have pizza, I eat only the toppings. This journey has not been easy but the end result will be worth it. If you are able to eat small portions of bread and other carbs, go for it! I still have a problem with peanut butter unless I mix it with almond milk and protein powder and make a smoothie. Every day brings something new. Good luck and I hope you are back to eating "normal" food soon and you are comfortable with your food choices. Your stomach will tell you what works and what doesn't:)0

Hooray! I know how hard each step can be, but you have to take that next step. I'm glad you're healing and moving forward. It does get easier.0

thanks - it has been a rough road for me. never thought such a small thing like 1/2 of a sandwich could make me happy.0

I love bread! I could make a meal just of bread! So I don't allow it into my food plan often. Frankly, if I'm going to get my protein in, anything carb or starchy is kind of off my list. Bread for me has become a treat. We went to Olive Garden the other night, I took a bite off my husband's bread stick and ordered a non-pasta dinner and it was really good! You will see a lot of people on here talk about keeping your carbs really low. I would say as long as you are getting in all your protein and are losing, go ahead and have your bread/potato/rice/pasta/etc. We all have very unique journey's here and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for all.0

I've had 35 calorie bread/toast, pasta (very little amount) and potatoes (no butter or frying in oil) every once in a while. Just a small portion makes me happy and so I don't go "hog wild" when I do have them. I do this will all my food, but these in particular. - you'
CONGRATS, capecodgirl. Sounds like you are finally able to really eat some real food. Toast is also very good, or a grilled sandwich.
Keep up the good work and hoping your problems have been resolved and you continue to move on with your new life.0 -
Great to hear you can keep it down. I have had pumpernickel bread twice since surgery and have not found myself craving it. My weak foods are chocolate and potato chips so I have to avoid those. But bread for some people is ok within limits. As you go through each day you learn more about your bodies needs. Mine tells me no milky drinks. I could drink and keep drinking them. Yes we all have our danger foods, or sleeve intolerance foods, they just aren't all the same.0
