Hi Ladies,
I don't know about all of you, but I feel like i'm hitting a bit of a wall with my exercise at the moment.
When I started losing weight in January, I resolved to work out 5 times a week for 30 minutes a day and I just haven't kept that up!
I know that variety is the spice of life so I am to do a few different workouts. I am not a gym person and we have no money for new DVD's or Membership.
Right now, i'm trying to get back into doing these workouts:
- Leslie Sansone 2 mile walking routine (on youtube! 30 Min run-time with cool down)
- The Ballet Workout with Melissa Lowe
- Beginning Callanetics (30 Min routine)
What i'd like to know is how do you ladies workout and how regularly do you exercise?
I really need to get back on the wagon!

Kaela, YouTube has awesome free videos on everything from yoga to prancercise. When I was less heavy, one of my favorite workouts was to dance on a mini-trampoline. You can usually pick one up cheap. Ultimately, walking is the best free workout. Or for me, swimming. Mix it up, join Nexercise, start a challenge!0

My exercise is not that interesting lol. I sometimes do the walking dvds too, I also have a chair yoga thing I do. I march while folding and putting away washing, I go out with my 5 year old and try to push myself to move around with him more, and I just bought badminton racquets that I am trying to get DH into. We did it once and it was fun so hopefully he will come out with me more. It is hard to motivate for sure. That is why I started the marching while doing laundry thing. I often add in 5 to 10 minutes of stretches, wall push ups, bed sit ups. The laundry has to be done anyway so I get both things done at once. That way even on days where I do not motivate to go out for a walk or play or do a dvd, I have at least moved around for 30 mins.0

Even for us heavier ladies, if your body can handle it, weights are good, even seated, supported. Because weights will build muscle and eliminate fat. Cardio alone burns through both. It will rebuild some as you workout, but this has always been my biggest failing. You can't build new muscle at a calorie deficit. There is an article on NerdFitness about it...
Anyway, regardless of all that, my favorite workouts are something my friend, Beth, I think it is, dubbed "Bathroom Exercises." Essentially, they are little 10-count exercises you do each time you use the bathroom before resuming whatever your normal activities were. Her main thing was that they helped her to tone some difficult areas, and kept her metabolism up, even when she wasn't as active.
Arm circles - small or big, 10 circles. I usually try for 10 forward and 10 backward.
"Chin Ups" - a slow lift/tilt of the chin straight up and straight down...targets our double (or more!) chins. I added "side ups where I take my chin up to the left, back to center, up the middle, back to center up to the right, back to center, repeat ten times.
Punches - punch alternating arms across your body, twisting at your waist, not hips - targets the love handles. 5 left, 5 right, or ten each. This can be amended by doing a static wall squat while doing this, or if you are more advanced, a basic squat while punching.
I added sometimes doing squats, 10 each time. Pretty much anything you can do a quick ten count of would work here!0 -
Love the idea of bathroom exercises, lol. They would work great during commercial breaks too0
