I am working towards my sleeve surgery in October. One of the habits they want me to start now is eating breakfast w/in 1 hour of when I get up in the morning. I will say straight out that I am NOT a morning person. So, I get up with enought time to shower, brush my teeth, put on makeup, get dressed and if I washed my hair that day I get it partially dry. I do sit about 5 minutes and watch the news/weather on tv. So far, I'm not doing well with getting a breakfast in there too. I'm going to have to come up with something that is quick and easy, (or drinkable?) that I can do while I am getting ready. So far, I've come up with drinking a glass of skim milk. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do your doctors request that you have breakfast so soon after waking up?

I am not one for eating early in the morning. I go to the gym at about 5 am and do an hour of cardio and I still don't want to eat when I get home. After I work out, I have a protein drink in the morning while I am getting ready for work. I use various protein powders and protein-added almond milk and my "breakfast" gives me 25-30 grams of protein and about 160 ish calories. Sometimes I will add PB2 or half a banana to my protein drink for a little more substance.

Go for one of the protein powders with almond or skim milk for breakfast. With all the protein, you should be satisfied until lunch and not be so tempted when the office donut cart comes around.

Premier protein pre made shakes, available at sams club. Nice and thin. 30g protein in 1 shake. if you just take it in your car you can drink it on way to work. Kroger Carbmaster skim milk, 11g protein per cup. Once you get on solids i highly recommend hormel precooked bacon, 72 slices for $11 at sams club. i put 2 strips in a folded paper towel nuke for 1 min and carry it to the car. i put a cup of the kroger carbmaster milk in my coffee now that i drink it again. I own a Cuisinart Egg Central that i used to poach 1 egg every morning after surgery. cottage cheese is also a good option

That was a hard one for me to get used to. I was NOT a breakfast or morning person. Now I always eat breakfast within an hour of getting up.
When i'm working (I'm off right now until Sept) I have a protein shake every morning.
Since I've been off, my schedule is all over the place, and i'm recovering from my surgery (2 weeks yesterday) I've still been eating something for breakfast. It's been either greek yogurt or a shake, or oatmeal.

Once i'm back to work, and eating normal again (I'm on purees right now) I plan on making eggs with bacon & cheese in muffin tins. Just scramble 12 eggs, pour into 12 muffin tins, sprinkle with bacon & cheese. Add veggies or whatever else and bake in oven until done.

I'll freeze them individually, and take one each morning for breakfast. Super fast & easy!

I LOVE pinterest for ideas like that!

Yes my doctor wants me to eat with an 1 hour of getting up. I am not a morning person either. However now that I have hypoglycemia I try to make sure that I have a decent protein breakfast otherwise I feel like crap.
You will figure something out that works for your. Change is difficult, but can be accomplished with a little planning and imagination.

Good luck with your up coming surgery, you will do fine, you are starting early enough to make eating early into a good habit.
