For the Many in Crisis

Almighty God,
The news fills me with sadness. I see the hatred of shouting people, who have no compassion for the thousands of children who have come hundreds of miles over dangerous terrain to see asylum from the drug cartels who torture them, kill them rape them and sell them.
The USA supposedly was built on immigrants seeking safety from persecution and lack of freedom. The Statue of Liberty says, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free." In this country of abundance, please raise up Christian leaders like Judge Jenkins in Dallas, the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association, the Baptist Men's Leadership and Catholic Charities, who have stepped up to take on the issue in a compassionate way and offer help to these refugees seeking hope.
Forgive us, Lord, for not being compassionate as you have shown us how to be compassionate--both with Leah and with the disciples. Help the thousands of families torn apart; in fear for their lives, the lives of their children.
I lift up the families of the three Israeli youths that were executed and the Palestinian family of the youth that was killed. The enmity between the descendants of Abraham continues and we feel powerless to help. Only you can truly help the situation. Even so Lord, come quickly that we might find unity in Christ.
In Jesus name,
Amen
