I'm starting a 5 day juice cleanse tomorrow, 07/13/2014. I'm a little nervous, but I'm doing this with my room mate who has juiced before. Still, any tips or motivation from anyone who's done the whole juicing thing let me know!

I could use some tried and tested juice recipes too!

If you search 'juice recipes' here, you should find lots of threads.

Just a couple of links I found

As for tips. I wrote a couple of threads about my experience. They might be somewhat helpful?

And my #1 tip.... which is probably stated in the stuff I wrote previously. Don't try to drink juice that tastes nasty. Gulping down a concoction that tastes like *kitten* 6 times a day, isn't going to be anywhere near enough fun. When you find stuff that tastes good, drink that. Stuff that tastes bad, move on, eliminate the crappy tasting ingredients.

I hated juiced kale. Hated it. I tried to drink it, multiple times. But, I hated it, and gave up on it. Some people say it tastes fine, or are able to hide the taste with some stronger ingredients. I know of vegans, who eat raw kale, or kale in just about anything, who have said that juiced kale tastes like *kitten*.

First off I would like to say congrats and good luck! Hopefully it is a positive and life changing event for you like it was for me the first time.

My most important advice it to just keep your eye on your goal and your intention whenever you doubt what you are doing. Also you may feel kind of sick, weak, hungover, drunk or something of the like somewhere around day 3-5. Don't be afraid. You are not starving, that is just from the amount of toxins in your blood stream and your body acclimating. I usually try to make sure those days fall when I do not have anything important to do, and after a day or two that goes away.

Before I say this I want to express that I do not feel there is a right or wrong way to go about doing a fast (as long as you are being safe). I think that regardless of what you consume you are doing wonderful things for your body and mind. My personal preference is to also eliminate fruits, which would go against what 'sloth3toes' is suggesting. The reason for this is to also eliminate most of the sugar too. The result generally tastes like grass at first due to all of the leafy greens but there are a few major reason I think this is great immediately and in the long term.

It allows you to reset your taste buds, try things you normally wouldn't not so much for taste but for vitamin/mineral content, and possibly find things you really enjoy that used to taste terrible to you.

This is great if you plan on altering your diet and eating better after your cleanse. Esp if you plan on eliminating things from your diet. It allowed me to eat things I would have never been able to before, like raw kale. And after my fast things that used to taste great tasted terrible, like powerade, which is good because they aren't good for you.

I also learned about the juice of vegetables that I wouldn't have even thought of if I would have just been looking for things that taste good. You would be amazed by the flavor and the amount of juice you get from a bell pepper.

Again I'm not saying one way is better than the other, this is my opinion and preference. I can totally understand why some people would need to keep it fun and tasty in order to make it through. Regardless of your approach and intention I look forward to hearing about your results.

I'm on day 6 of a juice fast. It's actually been pretty easy for me. I've been juicing for a couple of years mostly to get more veggies into my diet so my body was already used to juicing. I've never done a fast before though. I'm down 12lbs over the 6 days. I hope your fast is going well!
