So, I have been a member of MFP for about 2 years now and a member of this group for about 1 year. But I have never been able (re: willing) to put any consistency into my SL program. I am so comfortable with my cardio (brisk walking) for exercise and weight loss, I am having difficulty switching gears to more strength training. I met my "Phase I" goal of a 50lb weight loss with cardio and TDEE-500cals/day and am now working a my "Phase II" goal of 165lbs, 35% BF. (Phase III goal is 145lbs, 28%BF - don't know if there is a Phase IV and beyond, but I'm thinking yes).

Anyways, I know I need to really focus on the strength training to reach my further goals. Now I have to get out of my comfort zone and really push myself. And in order to do that, I need to be held accountable. No excuses. I have to "put up or shut up". I'm tired of saying "I'm gonna do it" and then not follow through. I figure one way to help my accountability is to use the group and report to y'all daily. No excuses.

My plan is a modified SL5x5 M-W-F and cardio T-Th-Sat. I say modified because I need to do some major core work before I re-attempt weighted squats. I'm hoping strengthening my core will help me stay "upright" when I'm in the hole. I plan to do goblet and box squats to fix that issue, then proceed with the low-back squats. So basically, I will be doing Workouts A and B without the low-back squats, replacing that lift with goblet squats and core work.

Anyways, I guess I'm just giving y'all a heads up that I will be here - daily - to report my workouts. They will not be "pure" SL5x5, so please bear with me. But this is what I have to do to hold myself accountable.

Thanks, and see you around. :flowerforyou:

Welcome (back)! Don't worry if your workouts aren't "pure" SL - there are many of us that have made modifications to the program to best fit out needs/wants.

I think the goblet squats are a great idea. I mix those into my workouts, too. They really do help my back squat form. Also, welcome back to lifting! :flowerforyou:
