Portable barre?

Hey all,

I'm looking into buying a portable barre to use at home, but I hear mixed reviews about them. The cheapest one in the area is a "Cardio Barre," which has a brand of Ballet/Pilates fusion style dvds it promotes. I'm just interested in the barre, $90 with a case.
There are others and I'm on a bit of a budget. Does anyone have any advice on these? Is it more cost effective to splurge on a real wood barre, or is that just a stylistic thing? Is there a real benefit to a double barre for at-home practice? Also, I can't do wall mounts because I am in a corner studio of a vintage bricker apartment, so our only studs are used to mount bikes; I need a free-standing bar that preferably stashes away easily.

If anyone has a brand or style they like, that has lasted, or that they prefer, let me know. Thanks~
