how did you feel during your juice cleanse/fast like were you tired or did you have a good amount of energy? also how long did you do it?
i realize its called a JUICE fast but is it ok if i eat some fruits and veggies in their natural form? maybe eat some celery or carrots or an apple or something during the day.....or does that defeat the purpose? (sorry if that sounds silly)
how did you transition back into eating solids? all at once or gradually?
and last but not least was it easy to eat healthy once it was over and do you still juice (not as a fast or meal replacement) on a regular basis? also, were there foods you no longer liked and/or developed a liking for that you normally wouldn't have eaten before your juicing journey?

When I have done my juice fasts (10 day reset) I have felt pretty great except for around day 3 or 4. That day I usually feel somewhere between drunk and hungover. I attribute that to the level of toxins in my bloodstream. But it isn't too bad and once that is past I feel great again. As soon as I can I plan on doing a 30 day fast.
It is ok to eat some fruits or veggies during the day, you will still be doing you body good, and I have heard that doing so really helps people keep at it. Personally I feel like restraining from that is good for you mentally. The hunger didn't really get to me, it was usually gone in like 10-15 min. Not to mention that most of the time the feeling that people get when they are "hungry" is actually because they are thirsty, so a glass of water is usually what the body actually needs, esp when it is trying to cleanse and heal.
If you fast for more than 1-3 days DEF come of the fast gradually.
I make juices as often as possible and doing the fasts made me appreciate the flavors of vegetables that I didn't really like before. Plus, when I had first came off the fast the second time I was helping someone move and they handed me a powerade and it was the grossest thing I had ever tasted, all I could taste was the syrup and I couldn't even handle the idea of drinking soda. It is the perfect time to change your diet.0 -
I pretty much agree with Herbert, there. The juicing thing was a challenge for me. I initially had no timeframe set, but after a few days, decided if I could make it ten days, I was doing good. After the ten days, I did four months of 4 juices a day, and a big salad. I started adding tuna or black beans and nuts to the salad, and it was pretty big. After that, I tried to go as plant based as possible, but I've strayed quite a bit from that. I still try to live by this.... 'Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.' MIchael Pollan.
I strongly believe a transition plan is essential. Doing anything 'radical,' and then going back to exactly how you were is a recipe for disaster, IMHO. ( Unless of course you were already eating, 'healthy, and the correct amount' )
Here's a couple of links to my experience. I did do one more 3 day juice thing, recently, but I found it very difficult to stick to. I've still got a few lbs to go... but, I'm sort of skinny-fat, and I don't think it agreed with me much at this weight. I'm too lazy to juice once a day or anything like that, I hated cleaning the juicer. And some will tell you, juice what's healthy, and figure out how to make it palatable. I just didn't juice stuff I didn't like the taste of. Kale, in particular, tasted like *kitten* to me.

My advice is to start juicing before your juice fast. Add a juice a day to your diet for a couple of weeks. This will allow you to get your routine down. It will also give your body a chance to get used to a rapid influx of nutrients, vitamins, and some sugars.
I am on a juice fast now. It's day 14 and I've lost 22lbs. I don't eat any veggies and have just the juice. The first three days are the toughest. It's a time when hunger is the worst and your body is adjusting to a completely new diet. Some people talk about detox but I don't believe that my body is somehow eliminating all these "poisons" a person supposedly accumulates. What it does do is give your body possibly things it's been missing. As such, I think that is why, after a few days, hunger isn't an issue. When you body is getting all the nutrition it needs, it doesn't cry out for you to eat. I also feel more "centered" for lack of a better term. I'm calmer and more focused. My palate seems to have changed. I now love the taste of veggies and fruit.
When I do go off the fast, I'll do it by adding one evening meal of mostly veggies. I'm hoping to do that for about a month before adding anything further to my diet.
If you go on a fast, as others have said, it's good to set a goal but don't be married to it. I think it's important to do at least a 5-7days but play it one day at a time.
Good luck if you decide to give it a try!0
