Sorry all I went MIA last week. I just read all the post and sounds like a lot of good stuff going on. So the summer events are officially over for me. My sister was home from Alabama last week and I took vacation to spend time with the family. So of course that meant lots of eating and that was on top of gains from the 4th and the rib fest. That is all behind me now I was 305 last Friday and will probably be close to 310 this week. I am so looking forward to the August challenge. I am going to drop at least 15 in August and kick this fat *kitten*. I got back to my walking today I will have 70 minutes in by the end of the day. I am a little concerned about that because I think I may have a fracture in my foot. I keep getting sharp pains if I step a certain way. I have a doctors appointment in August and if it's not better I will get an x-ray. Anyway it's going to be a good week and a good upcoming month.

Howie, the earliest appointment you can get is in August?! Maybe you should buy one of those foot splint to immobilize the foot in case its a fracture so you won't aggravate it and make it worse while waiting to see the your doctor.
I'm rooting for you for you August Goal :flowerforyou:

I'm doing good. Still doing Muay Thai and LOVING it. People are nicer to me now but when I'm the only girl in class the guys still don't want to partner with me unless the instructor told them to. Sigh. I get it ,most of them are big and/or and advance... I would never ask them but the ones who are are smaller and shorter than me wit:h skill level in the same range as me still won't partner me they'd rather partner with a guy. Or when they were to partner with me they hit so soft that it's almost insulting. I'm 5'8 and weigh 170 so I'm exactly the delicate flower. But I know that respect is earned. So I hope that after a while they will take me seriously. On my good days I've been getting some "Hey good job today" from some of the regular guys so I think I'm on my way

I think I'm still losing. It's hard to tell this week because my ulcers are flaring up and I am BLOATED. I look like I am with child LOL
My boyfriend on the other hand is kicking *kitten* with the Carbnite Solutions He has lost 23lbs since he started. So I'm very happy for him.

Just tell the guys in your class to suck it up. LOL Glad you are sticking with it. It's not that I couldn't get an appointment sooner it's just that I am stubborn and figure I can wait until my August appointment that I already had scheduled. It's not stopping me from walking I just have to be careful about how I step down. Usually if I keep shoes on I do not have the pain it's when I try to walk around the house barefoot. On a better note I weighed this morning and I'm not as high as I had thought. I was 308. So I may even be able to maintain at 305 by Friday.

I also think I am going to start the August challenge early and start commenting on this thread daily. I'm doing really well today and yesterday. Can't wait to see the end result of staying on target all August. I'm thinking of cutting out my treat nights for the month as well. I really need to refocus.

heronh, just keep hitting them good; they will get the message. I am glad to see that you have not given up and have kept at it.

Howie, that sounds like a stress fracture. ouch!!

Busy weekend with matches, and the 5am wakeup of 2 dogs going after a skunk trying to get in the chicken coop. Needless to say, Sunday was interesting and smelly...

I'm excited about the August challenge too Howie! Like you, the daily focus should be a good thing for me. Sorry about your foot. I hope it is just a sprain. And hey! You will totally kick *kitten* in August!!!
I'm still pretty happy lately with the help I'm getting from Jef Fry. We are really "bio-hacking" over here. I did that first week of really clean eating and stripping my diet of almost everything. That week went really well and I had my Carbnite. All was pretty good, did another week and now I'm in the middle of week 3.
He wants me to "take a week off" next week. Like a diet download week. Just try to not diet or be obsessed with anything but make reasonable choices. I am not sure that I know how to do that. Sad but true.
But on an fantastic note: I have lost 9.5 lbs in 3 weeks! I know a lot of it was bloating from Tough Mudder indulgences and 4th of July. But who cares!? pants fit again.
I'm not real happy with body composition but I'm putting off hitting the gym for now until we get my diet all settled out. Still walking here and there. Need to do more.
Heronh, I love hearing about your sparing. Like Mark said, just keep hitting them good!! Congrats to your boyfriend on his CNS success.
Mark: I can NOT imagine what that coop smelled like. LOL. Did you hear that Aaron (from We Like Shooting) got sprayed by a skunk the week he did Tough Mudder with us?? hahahahaha. Sorry, I know it must have been aweful for you (and Aaron). Why are skunk sprays so funny??

Skunks are fun. lol I am thankful that my dogs have never got it by one so far. We do have one that likes to hang out in our back yard though.

Yes I am thinking it is a stress fracture too. All though from all my back issues I do have a high pain tolerance so it is not too bad. It's really not to bad at all, it only hurts if I go barefoot and step a certain way. I'm hoping it heals up enough on it's own that I won't need to wear a boot or something like that.

Carol it sound like you are really doing well, I am happy you are finding something that is working for you. I know what you mean about not being sure if you can not be obsessed. I know how not to be obsessed about food but that means weight gain. LOL

For some reason this week the scale gods are shining on me. I dropped another 5 of water weight and I am actually looking at a 2 lb loss for this week. I was 303 this morning down from 308 yesterday. I really don't know how that happened after the way I ate this weekend. It sure would be nice if 4 more would come off by by official weigh in on Friday, and I would be back under 300. It felt so good to be there and then I turned around and sabotaged myself. It seems I have a tendency to do that. I am definitely going to be under 290 by the end of August, I am looking forward to that 200 lb lost mark again.

Carol, Skunk sprays are funny since they smell SO bad, and pretty much is harmless. The smell lasts too... for weeks! I will take a Skunk over a Porcupine any day with dogs. Honest, I have had 2 pet Skunks. The first one was de-scented (when that was allowed), stayed in the house as a pet, and I even took him to school once for some wildlife day. The second was raised from very little, then turned out. He would not spray us or the dogs either, and he was usually not far from the house. Yes, growing up and living in the woods does have it's happy moments. I had pet Jack Rabbits in the yard too...

    Hello!

Sounds like everyone is having a fairly good week... well, for the most part!

Howie - Sorry about your foot, but I'm happy to hear it isn't slow down your walking any!

Markd - Ugh... skunk smell... phew! But like you said, better a skunk than porcupine. I've had friends who's dogs have encounter porcupines and it's always very painful for the dog.

Carol - Yea!! So happy things are going well for you and this new course of action is working well for you!

Heronh - I agree with Howie, just tell those guys what my husband is always telling me... "suck it up, Buttercup!"

As for me, this week is going okay. Had an awesome time at the Brewfest, and even tried a couple of the micro brews (I am not a beer drinker) and I tried a couple different ice creams at the Creamery (yea, going back probably wasn't the wisest choice! LOL). Hubby and I are doing another week of Paleo but I am having a hard time sticking to the menu plan. The snacking in the afternoon and evening is creeping back in... Keeping my fingers that I can at least maintain this week, but after the big loss last week, I might see a slight gain. Will find out tomorrow when I weigh in!

Sounds like you and you husband had a great time. I love trying new beers.

I feel like I am in an alternate universe this week. I am down another 2 lbs. I weighed in at 301 this morning. I really cannot believe this, I really packed the food away this weekend with my sister being home and being on vacation. I don't know what is doing it but I sure will enjoy it while it last.

Way to go Howie! You must be doing something right if you are losing!

Still sticking with the Paleo plan. Well, for 3 out 7 days last week, I stuck to the menu. I did lose another .6 this week, which is pretty awesome considering my huge loss last week; eating out twice; having ice cream, beer, several pieces of candy, and Fritos; and not walking as much. I am back to the WW goal, at my lowest weight this year, and just 1.4 pounds from where I would like to maintain. So it’s all good. 

Tonight is our dinner out, so more or less my "cheat meal." I just have whatever I'm craving and don't feel guilty about it. But get right back on plan after dinner (which can be difficult for me!).

Hope everyone is having a good week and have a fun weekend planned! :drinker:

Treat meals or days can be hard to come off of. Sometimes I wonder if I should do away with the weekly and maybe just do a monthly. I tell though I think it keeps me going, by the end of the week if I don't have it I feel really deprived.

I still can't freaking believe it! I am once again 299. I ate horrible last week and I had a 2lb gain last week to bring me up to 305. It is unreal that I was able to drop six pounds this week. I might have been more apt to believe it if I had stopped after treats on Friday but I pigged out Thursday, Saturday and Sunday too. I am so happy right now. lol

Hey Stacy!! I know Scott was in heaven at Brewfest. I loved meeting him and in that short time, I learned that this guy knows his beers. And CONGRATS on your progress, girl!

    Howie: Porcupine?? LOL
I can totally believe that you are under 300. Jack was on the show this week (did Tough Mudder with us) and we talked a little bit about set points. Course we don't know what the heck we are talking about but our experience is like yours. You can sometimes have a blow out and gain a bunch of "weight" and it falls off rather quickly. hmmmm?
Show will be out by Monday.

Hugs to all you awesome folks!

    Carol

Thank you everybody for your encouragement :flowerforyou:
Congratulations to Howie and Mark on their weight loss

Mark I'm sorry about your dog. Can you still smell it? The thought of dogs encountering porcupines has never came across my mind until I watched Dr Pol. OMG its horrible and sometimes funny. Especially the one episode where the dog got "quilled" got all the quills taken out and the next day the owner came back again. Apparently that dog did not learn its lesson. Its amazing how a lot of those dogs even with quills in their face are still happy and friendly and wanting to be pet.

Carol - I look forward to hearing your progress.
Montana ; I'm glad you are back on track.

I haven't lost much in the past 2 weeks but I decide to check my body fat and I've lost 3%!! I am at 26.7% right now. When I was 167 (the lowest during my weight loss journey) My body fat was at 30.7% So I am happy. My Goal is 18% but I will be happy around 22%.

I'm STILL marveling at Mark's pets. Skunks and jack rabbits. I love the idea. Just the idea of it, mind you. :)
Heron, that is SO damn fantastic about your body fat %. I love when we see how stupid the scale is. I'm still a slave to it but I'm really making progress with my psyche over here.

Today begins my Diet De-Load week. I am to make reasonable choices but not track and not obsess. (HA! How the hell do I not obsess???) It is supposed to be a week where I don't binge but don't try to hack either. If I am more active, then I have more carbs. You know, be NORMAL. Well, that is all fine and well for normal people. Let's see how I do.

Carol, there is just a little bit of smell left on the Pit. With that short hair it went into her skin. She also received a good mouth shot, and she loves to lick you... I am sure you can imagine. The German Shepherd/Pyrnees, with the long coat, was in good shape after a couple of days.

Howie, I put a reminder in my calendar that texts me.. :D Besides, ya'll are great!!
