I'm Pregnant and losing weight from very clean eating!Help!

Hello: I currently have a BMI of 28.3% which I know is considered overweight. I am 5’2 and 155lbs. I just had my IUD removed and began taking a prenatal vitamin with folic acid. I also just began a really healthy diet of about 1300 calories of VERY clean food. Mostly, fruits, veggies, plain greek yogurt, nuts, white meat, and whole grains but trying to keep my carbs under control (mostly around 100) and I am losing weight so far like crazy. (3-4 lbs a week) I have never eaten this healthy before and have always had tons of fatty fried foods… I just found out that I am pregnant and don’t have an appt for another 4 weeks (docs want to see me at 7 weeks) I am going to bump it up to at least 1500-1600 calories daily but I feel that based on my past eating habits and my current I will still lose weight! Is it ok to lose weight while pregnant if I am eating 1500-1600 calories of very clean real foods? I feel good and am not having morning sickness. I also exercise 45 mins a day 5 times a week doing walking/hiking and some minor strength training.

I lost weight during my pregnancy... granted I started around 220, but I asked my doctor and she said since he's growing on track that everything's fine. Now that i'm 38weeks I'm slowly catching up to my pre-pregnancy weight, but for most of my pregnancy I've been lower than my starting weight.

Basically in my opinion, as long as you eat when you're hungry and your doctor's ok with you progress I think it's ok to lose/maintain during pregnancy.

I did the same thing. I started clean/healthy eating, got pregnant, and continued to lose (especially after the morning sickness kicked in). I lost about 18 lbs before finally stabilizing and heading the other direction. I didn't gain anything until I was between 18-19 weeks pregnant. I wouldn't worry about it too much as you're slightly overweight. A good pregnancy calorie calculator to use is this one:

You can still track the amount of calories you're getting with MFP, but don't use MFP to set your goals because it doesn't account for pregnancy. :flowerforyou:

If you're concerned, you can call your doctor and ask... but I wouldn't stress about it too much yet. You don't necessarily need "extra" calories in 1st Trimester anyway. That being said, if you get hungry... make sure to eat something (preferably protein).

You're eating far too few calories...I've eaten 2200ish calories my entire pregnancy and I'm rather petite to start.

First congrats on all the good things (healthy eating, losing weight, baby). It shouldn't be a big deal to lose some weight. Many women lose weight from morning sickness or changing to healthier eating. However, it is not recommendd to try to lose weight while pregnant and 3-4 lbs a week at 155 puts you at risk for lots of deficiencies like low iron. Your body typically provides for baby 1st and you get what's left. You could start by setting your MFP goal to maintain weight and try eating that calorie #. You will still probably lose some due to your healthy eating. Then discuss with your doctor your eating and weight at your first visit. I started off about the same size as your and at 14 weeks I've gained about 1-2 lbs total giving myself 250 calories over maintenance ( I was still breastfeeding my youngest at night).
