Are you eating to fuel your body or your emotions?

I'm known as The Juicy Woman, and I'm an author and speaker and I write women's empowerment books. At 51, it's taken me years to reach this point of readiness to let go of my emotional and physical baggage. Chest pains back at the beginning of the year was the scare that I needed to clean up my act. I've since made a choice to lighten the load on my heart and eat healthier by drastically reducing the amount of sweets and carbs I consume.
As a professional empowerment coach, I've spent years invested in learning and teaching people how to manage their emotions and handle the stress in their lives. Because I know that our weight is tied to our identity, I've realized what I need to clean up my side of the street in order to make myself feel safe enough to lose this excess weight that I've been carrying for far too long.
I am wildly passionate about teaching others and using myself a stress relief method called Emotional Freedom Technique or tapping. The latest research demonstrates that it reduces cortisol levels by as much as 25% which is astonishing. The first time someone taught me how to use it back in 2004, I was in the midst of a panic attack, and within a few minutes it completely calmed down and brought me to a level of peace I had never known. So I fell in love with the technique and I vowed to teach it to all my clients.
As a result of doing a lot of EFT and tapping, I've been feeling pretty unconflicted about making changes and getting thinner. There are still some glitches but nothing that is too overwhelming. I'm 227 pounds, and I've chosen a mid-range goal of 180 pounds to gently get my body used to eating lighter caloric loads. As long as I can workout every few days, I don't have any problems eating under 1790 calories.
I've been feeling really comfortable eating a largely protein based diet with plenty of veggies for bulk. Each meal I think of what protein and produce can I combine for maximum energy. How 'bout you? What do you like to eat to fuel yourself?
