Hi all. Exploring MFP for some potential connections to support or guide me in lifting heavy weights at home. I started with Chalean Extreme workout videos and have seen awesome results. Though I'm still working on my stubborn 30 lbs of fat loss, my overall body is toning like never in my life, so clearly, something very good is happening so I'm trying to progress along with it. I went bodybuilding.com and picked a 5 a week program which targets a different muscle group daily for 3 sets of 8-12 reps, plus abs x3 a week. Seems good. I have a barbell and adjustable weight dumbbells in my home gym, and would really like to find programs where I can progress with this setup for a while. I may consider a gym membership down the road, but for now, I'm feel very beginner with this. Anyone up for a friend add? I'd love some inspiration and tips. THANKS!

Hey there and welcome to the group feel free to add me.
I have been doing Strong lifts for almost a year...
Started off with 5x5 but recently (summer time) switched to 3x5 and thinking of switching Wendler 5/3/1 in Sept after doing SL for a year.
I am currently at maitenance after losing the 55lbs I wanted to lose in about 18 months.
I lift at home....I have 2 bars, a bench with lat pull down, leg extension and curl attachments and a homemade squat rack for safety.
I do cardio/HIIT or bike ride on my off days and sometimes on my lifting days but always after. I don't do any accessory work atm except chin/pull ups.
Great group of ladies here doing all sorts of workouts...feel free to chime in on the workout thread.
The only suggestion I would have is find a program that is compound that you can do 3x a week. As a beginner they seem to be the best as there are only 5 exercises...easier to get form down and progress.
As for nutrition make sure there is lots of protien in your diet...I try for 125grams a day, it helps repair the muscles.
I also follow TDEE method where I eat the same calories everyday and IIFYM...yah treats....0 -
I would love to connect with other ladies who lift! Feel free to add me.
I've been logging, losing and lifting intermittently for over a year now. Lost about ten pounds last fall. I'm hoping to stay consistent until I get back to school, when I'll have access to a food scale and be able to prepare my own meals.0
